..when your team colors are not black. I just turned in the UCLA/Virginia Tech game and UCLA is wearing BLACK uniforms with Blue numbers. Black has nothing to do with their school colors (blue & gold). I've seen other schools wear black too when they shouldn't. Maryland (red & white) and Hawaii (green & white) for example. Am I the only one that gets upset when other schools steal our uniform colors?

Ok fashionistas, who freakin cares? Besides white grey and black are neutral colors available to any school at any time.

Ok fashionistas, who freakin cares? Besides white grey and black are neutral colors available to any school at any time. Using black as a trim or highlight color would be ok. But the dominant color on a team's uniform should be one of it's primary school colors. That UCLA uniform was 98% black. There was barely any blue and gold. There ought to be a law!

Many teams also don't have white as their color, but wear predominantly white jerseys. Nowadays black is becoming the white alternative.

YES , it looks that way to me By the way Black is not a color Happy new year Are you an artist? You are partially right. I studied art in school, and we learned that black is the combination in equal amounts of all colors in the viewing spectrum. You know red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, etc... So, it is not a single color, but all the colors added together make it up. Whereas, white is the absence of all the colors. I use to get upset over all the teams who did not have black as a school color using it in their uniforms. But, now I look at it this way: , because they are actually copying the team which was the true original in all black uniforms: SAN DIEGO STATE!!! We started wearing all black uniforms as you know way back in 1963, and unless someone can prove us wrong, we were the first major 4 year university to do that. So, it is a 50 year tradition with us, and the other schools who have been doing it for only a few years. They are realizing how dramatic, bad, and cool it is to dress in black. Top models have been doing it for decades! So, they are just showing to all how right we were then, and still are today. It's like they are showing respect, and admiration for our Aztec Tradition! Can't beat that!

I can garantee that none of these teams are wearing black uniforms to copy or pay homage to San Diego State. It's just a cool color for an alternate look.

Want to hear something crazy? Baylor is playing Central Florida in the Fiesta Bowl tomorrow. UCF's colors are black and gold. But Baylor is going to be wearing black jerseys with gold numbers for the game tomorrow. So not only are they wearing black when black isn't one of the school colors (which are green and gold), they're wearing the other team's colors.

Maybe we should dare to be different by wearing less black in ours. Then again maybe we couldn't get anyone to play here. I must agree with those who are tired of every g-damn uniform in the country being black. The black on black with red tops must live on forever, but people forget that the original school colors were purple and gold while teams like Army, Purdue, and the New Zealand rugby team were sporting black in the early 1900's. Being a uniform and helmet design junkie, I personally don't see anything wrong with having a rare alternate uniform outside of school colors for bowl games, rivalries, or other special occasions.

I'm just chipping in on a harmless debate.
