It's easy to forget that he's just a sophomore. I look forward to watching him help the team win this year and the 2 years that follow. Don't know how people around here hate on him when he's so dang likeable and unselfish.

He carries himself like a veteran, easy to forget he is just a soph. That's because he's as old as most seniors. Many athletes today were held back a year in grade school or high school so they can be more competitive. Toss in a year at an "academy" and a year of redshirting, and you have guys who are more like the missionaries at BYU. In JJ's case, he played for Utah for a season, redshirted and is playing for SDSU now. He'll be 21 in two months. Just for comparison, FWIW, I was already in my final semester at State when I was JJ's age. And Jamaal is almost 22 as a junior. He's as old as most 5th-year seniors.

JJ is exactly where a person in his third year of college should be, so, no, he's not the same age as most seniors. Most college juniors were born in 1992 or late 1991.

We were overdue for a weekly Mark Zeigler fluff piece. It is sad, but atleast with Brent the articles drove conversations and debate. Loh and Ziegler and some other clown drop superficial topical articles. Sad when you miss Brent S.

What I'm pointing out is that he doesn't play like a sophomore because in reality, he's been playing/practicing at the D-1 level for three years now. With todays athletes, the notion of Frosh., Soph., Jr., Sr. has become quaint. There are lots of 20-year-old freshmen and 23-year-old seniors running around. It's not like it was 20+ years ago.

Fluff pieces help to bring in more fans, which is what making money for your school is all about. I don't really consider these fluff pieces anyway. Did you want Zieg to find out if JJ has any illegitimate kids he's hiding away, a la Brent?

He's also small time, always making references to the way things "used to be" . It's like okay bro the transformation is complete, quit referencing empty Peterson gyms and sports arenas and Steve fisher walking around campus handing out tickets. SDSU has been a solid program since this year's freshman class were in elementary school.

So what? What do any of your comments have to do with the fact that JJ O is has this, and two more seasons? Yes, ages get all screwed up by parents, AAU coaches and coaches. We need to revisit the ages of those who play for Provo.
