nice work - it will be fun to see how well the new strength coach pads some muscle on this crew - nobody over 270 at the moment? I hope Meredith is at least 290 next year

This is quite interesting and good stuff to save going into spring ball. Most interested in HH's analysis of the offense coming next. That's where we have the big shoes to fill. Especially hoping David Wells from Clovis, CA will be a big piece of replacing Escobar. But, Rocky mentioned an expected JC coming in. I don't see anyone listed on the commit list.

Most college DEs are around 250. The only small player is Fely but I think we know better than to downgrade him for his small size!

Kicking has be a concern for me the past few seasons, but last year they were pretty solid. After a shaky start, Chance Marden had a solid year. Next year will be our 4th kicker in 6 seasons. I'd like to see Seamus McMorrow bring some stability (like we had with Palmer) to the position and lock it down for the next 3.
'04 Garrett Palmer '05 Garrett Palmer '06 Garrett Palmer '07 Garrett Palmer '08 Lane Yoshida '09 Lane Yoshida '10 Abel Perez '11 Abel Perez '12 Chance Marden

Unfortunately, two of them were close to awful in 2012. It would be nice if somebody could explain exactly what responsibilities the "Aztec" and "Warrior" positions are supposed to have. Are they pretty much just different names for strong and free safety?

That would drive anyone crazy.

Are they pretty much just different names for strong and free safety? It's weird and complicated. The Aztec lines up deep like a free but takes strong responsibilities (loading box, TE coverage in man, etc). Whereas the Warriors play more like free safeties. That's the thing about the D though. It's versatile so really guys can move all over the place and shift responsibilities. You will notice that with our talent the Aztec is less linebackeresque compared to the Lobo in his D at UNM. I'd really love to find out if that is by preference or necessity.

I have said it before I Love Fely , he is a stud. But we r deep at backer at would love to see him at Aztec. He could do all the great things he does at MLB, and more. Also with the way he has to play being lite for the position, throowing his body into ever tackle, I worry about his health. Now hearing about Seau concussion, causing his death, coaches need to protect their players. Staying with LBs, I had a chance to to meet and speak with D Largent. And first the kid is built, and I call him a kid because he is a only 19. He did not even have any facial hair. Watch out when he matures. I believe he will be our best LB this year. He said he really just started to understand the defense by the end of the year. Not willing to say he will be better then Burris yet, but we may being seeing a beast in the making. He Will be playing on Sundays.

Can't wait to see SDSU make good use of the 6'4 Larry Clark next season. A much needed big receiving target besides the tight ends. Also, is Osmond Nicholas still in the picture?

They need some WR's now since most of them are Seniors and they have no incoming recruits. This could make for a desperate situation in the next year or two.
