What's with the huge picture of some Arizona dude and then the headlines below talking about Arizona getting their "Wish List Fulfilled" in order to avenege last year's loss..!! Why is OUR newspaper caring that much about Arizona? Do you think that the Tucson paper gave the Aztec's this kind of coverage? NO..!!
Merry Christmas Arizona...from the San Diego Union Tribune..!!
Hope that our Aztec's win and get proper coverage tomorrow..! Go Aztec's..!!!

Hopefully, a win over Arizona accompanied by a big AZTEC picture should do the trick.

How is it "OUR" newspaper? It has no allegiance to SDSU. It's an objective form of media.
Even so, if you read the damn article you would see its pretty much a fluff piece on SDSU and the level of respect we have earned from the #3 team in the country and their coach.

It's an independent and objective news source. You clearly don't understand the purpose or function of the media. The UT doesn't owe SDSU anything. If they choose to cover us because they think it's relevant to its market then that's their prerogative. Likewise if they choose to cover u of a because they are the #3 team in the country playing the local team of their market they can do the same. Quit crying like a little girl.

WOW...first the lecture about a newspaper and media...and then the comment a ...a little girl..!! What are you some sort of media honk? As someone else note here the UT is loaded with Pac Fudge folks...and go out of their way to credit other school's but offer little support for the local schools..!! As Mark Twain said about newspapers....if you read it you will be mis-informed...if you don't read it you will un-informed...!!

If you think the UT is biased against the Aztecs you're really reaching. They regularly feature Aztecs basketball on the sports front page. The AZ player is there because of the anticipation for this game.

What's more lame: the term "Pac Fudge" or whining about a local newspaper?

I thought it was great coverage. Grabbed my parents' copy of the NC Times (same photo and story as OP mentions) thismorning and it got me up to speed for tonight, and did it in a way that made it the lead sports story of the day.
What else do you want??

I don't have any problem with the UT's coverage of the Aztecs, but to characterize the paper as neutral and objective is not accurate. The owners have proudly and publicly proclaimed they intend to use the UT as a vehicle to push their own business interests and political agendas. With that said, they have been very pro-Aztec since the ownership change, so no problem with the photo or article.

Its actually pretty common to have a photo of the opposing team in your local paper for a big game. The paper wants everyone to know who the Aztecs are playing and why its meaningful. But the paper has a huge part in formulation the fans opinions of local teams, so getting positive stories is extremely important.

There has ben an article on the Aztecs everyday this week in the UT. It also gave opinions from both coaches complimenting each other's team. also interesting to hear that the Wildcats have spent all their time on basketball- strictly business. The Aztec coaches felt a trip to the Pearl Harbor Memorial to understand and appreciate the significance of the area . Ziegler also did a decent job breaking down the game and then an even better closer look at the two teams (rebounds, post double, speed vs size,PG play, runs ,turnovers, poise) . He also mentioned Hoover grad Chol and that JayDee Luster is a grad student there. In total prefer the Aztecs get articles even if it includes an opponent's picture then no article at all - Front Page top of the Sports section .

I normally don't get into these dialogues, but I couldn't pass it up when I saw this statement:
"It's an independent and objective news source." Were you really talking about the UT???
When I get done laughing and rolling on the floor, I'll think of something witty to write!

But I think tecs point was speaking on the purpose of media as a whole, it just so happens that it holds true...oh...almost never anymore.
