Blaudschun: Big East expects $15-$17M in TV deal ajerseyguy.com/?p=3501Probably just some speculation, but read on: Quote: And then there is the issue of a new television contract, which is now in the serious negotiation stage with multiple networks now that the exclusive period of dealing with ESPN has expired. Expect a compromise on that front as well, with the strong possibility of a two or three network package for football and basketball which could split up telecasts of Big East football regular season games, the Big East championship football game, a Big East Saturday football package, a Big East regular season basketball package and a Big East tournament package. Big East officials are hoping that the combined money will come close to generating a $15-17 million per school per year. I don't think you would say that to the press (even as an anonymous source) unless it was somewhat close to being true. McMurphy's $60M/year can kiss off.

The $15-17 million looked like complete speculation. I didn't get he was confident in that figure at all. (more like hoping for it)

If you just look at TV markets vs the ACC it actually makes sense...

That would equate to $11-12M for football schools but would defer to SGF who has been tracking it as close as anyone.

That would equate to $11-12M for football schools but would defer to SGF who has been tracking it as close as anyone. We are contractually guaranteed to receive 70% of what the schools who are in for all sports get. So $10.5-$11.9M - if those numbers prove to be true.

If you just look at TV markets vs the ACC it actually makes sense... The TV market thing is juuuust a bit overrated. Whose gonna get more eyeballs: Houston or Ann Arbor? Other than FSU and Miami, who in the ACC would even be close to being an Ann Arbor?

I've thought for some time that football-only schools would get at least $10 million per year. But we'll see. Now if we can just keep Sacramento and the state university system from getting their hands on it and taking it away from the football program.

I think the Time Zone footprint is also part of the issue - you get eyeballs from East Coast to West Coast all bleepin' day long. How many Big 10 games are you going to be able to sell ad space for in one day?

I'm just excited to see how the city and and SDSU fans respond to a more hyped and tough schedule. Our TV audience and average attednance should climb as a result. It was very interestesting to heat Tim Brando refer to Boise and SDSU as the potential "bell cows" of the new big east. Next stop a new stadium?!?!?!?!? Big time dreamin.

Read the comment section. The dude admits that money 15-17M is a stretch. ..Dude doen't even believe what he just wrote. Not good.
Rick B Is $15-$17mm per team a realistic range? I’m not trying to be snarky but who would watch those football teams? There is so much better college football available that those games would have to be the worst with respect to ratings. In all honesty, I would prefer to watch MAC games as there’s at least some natural geographic rivalries there. Reply

It might be a stretch to get that much money.
