Coach Fisher said it best when he noted that playing a team as tall & with a tough zone like Syracuse & playing them on a windy court outside was the worst possible combination to go against.
Actually, if the Aztecs had made about 10-11 more free throws it would have been a pretty close game, but of course the wind made sure that would not happen. Big deal, it was the first game, and we will be better in upcoming games I have no doubt.

If you were in section 203, you learned why the NCAA doesn't allow alcohol sales during on-campus events. Quite embarrassing. Bummer, sorry to hear about that. I have to say, I really enjoyed having an ice cold beer watching a basketball game in the sun. Nothing better than enjoying several cold beers in the sun. Unfortunately, this particular overweight, drunk, and obnoxious 30+ year-old woman couldn't handle her alcohol and was quite the talk of both Syracuse and Aztec fans.

Ha, she was right behind my buddy and I. I must say, it was quite impressive that she maintained her overly obnoxious behavior for the duration of the event. Hell, she was on a good one 30 minutes before tip. I would have been snoozing by halftime. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using proboards

Syracuse layed a clobberin' on the Aztecs. Every aspect of the game was dominated by the Orangemen.
While this Aztec team should be fine the rest of the season, they received a master class from a team who can shoot, defend and rebound on an elite level. Congrats to Coach Boeheim, he coaches a great team which will challenge for a Nat. Championship.
Still, this should be a very successful season for the Aztecs, they will win a ton of games this year and probably go to the NCAA's. Jamaal Franklin needs to calm down a bit and play within himself. Too many risky passes and questionable shots.

We won't miss as many 3's or FTs, indoors. It'll be a different game for sure. We could go toe to toe with them.

As others have indicated, this team will be very good---in time. It's very young, with many new players. As they meld as a team (JF needs to find more discipline) they will improve every week. Hopefully, they'll peak in March.

She at least provided much needed comedy as we were getting stoned on the court...back in the day, there's a few in my crew who would have zero'd in on easy prey like that!!

Stats were even, just couldn't rebound from the early 15-2 run the Orange laid on us when we were playing like it was xmas morning. If they get another shot at them indoors, the outcome will be much different.

I was at the game and my first reaction when the teams took the court was "they are way bigger than us" which my buddy said wouldn't matter due to our quickness. Only way we were going to beat Syracuse was to rain 3's and be efficient from the line. We went 1-18 from 3 and I could probably make FT's better blindfolded, honestly. The environment was scenic, but it was a strange feel for a basketball game. I liked the views of Coronado and Downtown, but it was obvoius neither team was going to make any outside shots so Syracuse smartly just tossed the ball up to the rim and went and got it. It was a bizarre game and I am not sure we can take much out of it other than the fact Syracuse has a lot of loudmouth, obnoxious fans who I will be wishing bad things for the rest of the season.

Syracuse was the better team, but I did not think the talent level was all that different. We need to the ability to shoot from the outside against a team like that and the conditions took that away. I thought we also forced them into a ton of turnovers and we were very successful in attacking the basket and getting to the free throw line. We make 70% of our free throws and even just 30% of our three and we are having a much different conversation today. Also, JJ Obrien is a player. He was doing work inside despite being way outsized. Later in the year we will have a more seasoned Spencer and J. Johnson to help with the size issue.
