aztech, I'm still fine with that. Look at how gawd awful the MWC would be this year without us and Boise. Yeah, they would have SJSU and USU, which have played well, but neither of those schools is going to be able to keep its HC around much longer. Hell, both could be gone before they ever join the MWC. And what happens after AFA declines the BE's offer and they then add Fresno as the 14th football playing member?
The nMWC is in trouble as a football conference.

The MWC no longer gets 1.2 mil a team - They currently get 8mil for the conf, so 800k a team.

So if we get $6.4M from BE membership as the consultant projected, we will be making as much in one year of BE participation as we would in eight years of MWC participation. (I took math in high school. Passed it too.)

True, but the point I was leading to is we won't have enough money to make a drastic change in our football program until we get our first big check in 2014. Don't forget, we have to pay 500K/yr for 5 years to the nBE for entry fees starting in 2013. If Rocky can at least tread water during that time then it'll be easier to build the program up quickly. Even if he wins I doubt he'd want to hang around for 5 years anyway.

In other words, getting out of the MWC in favor of the MWC/BLC is going to result in a big improvement to our athletics department bottom line and the improvement is going to increase geometrically.

Not to take the thread OT but does anyone else find themselves watching more BE football? I've been catching as many games as I can. SNY, for those with directv has a Saturday BE show preceding a game. I also find myself tuning into games of our future conference mates in C-USA when I find them.
It SHOULD be a fun league with some national flavor and from what I've seen, we are in no way over-matched by any of the other teams (assuming we can fix the defense). We do really need another western team to give the league a little more balance. As much as everyone here doesn't want to hear it, BYU would be a perfect fit.

I've definitely been watching BE football. As far as western team... I hope it will be BYU (I love to hate those guys).

I've been paying a lot more attention to what BE schools are doing than I ever did before. As to those who will join us in that conference who are still in CUSA, I've been rooting for all of them with the glaring exception of UCF, which has a bunch of posters on the BE board, about two of whom actually seem like anybody I might want to have a beer with.
