It's a six year deal. According to Long Beach State's student newspaper, the Daily 49er: "The Big West will be on the receiving end of rights and sponsorships fees that start at $1 million per year and increase by an unspecified amount each following year. The money will be distributed to the conferences’ 10-member institutions at $150,000 annually." www.daily49er.com/sports/big-west-on-the-big-screen-1.2773444#.UG4NUa6IwisThe reason it said 10 members instead of 11? "The deal is effective immediately, as Prime Ticket and Fox Sports West will televise a minimum of 20 Big West events in 2012-13. FOX Sports Networks (FSN) will then expand its coverage to at least 32 games per year when San Diego State and Boise State join the conference in the fall of 2013." Next year the total amount of money dished out to all conference members will be $1.65 million after Pacific leaves and SDSU and the Dunks come back to take their place.

Is it just me or does the math not add up. $150000 per team for 10 teams adds up to 1.5 mill, not 1 mill.

Six years is the perfect time frame. Suds and Boise enter the conference in year two and should stick around through the remainder of the contract. After that we'll see.
the BW adding Sac State for men's soccer instead of Bakersfield is working out great so far. Whereas Sac State already has a home for their other sports, Bakersfield would have definitely joined the BW as a full member and diluted the value of the contract. It was a wise move that definitely paid off.

I'm going to say thank you to SDSU for making this possible. There's no way this would have happened without you guys raising the value of the conference.

How would this deal affect the possibility of nationally televised games, does ESPN still have rights or would the national Fox network air big games?

1.65 is more than we get from the MW for everything - not bad at all. 1.65 million is not what each school gets; that is what gets divided up equally amongst the 11 conference members. For future quotation: SDSU and every other member will receive $150,000 each.

First tier of still be negotiated I believe. I'd also expect FSSD to be in the running for the final tier. It's going to be weird to watch the Aztecs in HD in a regular basis. ..Sent from my Samsung GS3..

That and they have a few more mouths to feed. Add in some of the Hawaii PPV revenue and they're at about 1M per school for all sports. Probably reasonable to assume 75% of that is for football so MWC members get about 250K annually for hoops and everything else. That 150K for second tier rights isn't far off. I'd guess SDSU will eclipse that 250k in hoops tv revenue rather easily but will still be behind due to loss of tournament credits. That's ok, football revenue will trump all. ..Sent from my Samsung GS3..

You are looking at $150+250+100=$500K That is before travel savings, not very far from the MW payout of $1.0M. The BE will be pure gravy.

The BW is not anywhere close to the BE or the Pac-12 but I think the Tier 1 contracts will fetch more than 250K per team. Unless I am wrong, we are looking at a conference with SDSU, LB, SB, Hawaii and Boise. The Pac-12 is on a new network and that would mean ESPN has more open slots. The WCC will take a good share but I dont think they can discard the BW now with the new additions especially SDSU. My personal guess would be somewhere in the 400-500 range for each program or roughly $5 million for the conference.

Monty, The paper is eluding to the gradual increasing allotment from 1 million in the first year then moving upwards for the next 6 years. The average should be in the 150,000 range for each school.
