Guys,
Look where we have been the last 12 years.
Tolner 3-8,3-8 Craft 4-9,6-6,4-7,5-7 Long 3-9,4-8,2-10 Hoke 4-8, 9-4 Long 8-5,2-3
We have not exactly been Alabama lately. I still say that we will be 7-5 by seasons end with a young team.
I don't know about all of you, but with our history I will take this progress.
See you all at the Poinsettia bowl against BYU.

You are full of it if you think we are over reacting. SDSU is NOT going to the Poinsettia Bowl, even if they want us there, because we won't have a record that allows that. That loss and the one last week, and the one against WA , all embarrassments, but this one, a definite embarrassment! The coaching staff is horrible...it isn't the players.

No. Just because the other guys sucked really bad doesnt mean you let a giy slide for sucking just a little.
The performance of our defense in these last three games has been beyond pathetic. It's time to fire our defensive coordinator.

People think hoke's second year team was great. It was far from it, just caught some breaks to get the 9 wins. This team is not a whole lot different. People need to get some perspective.

Yes now...in the middle of the season. We need to stop allowing mediocrity.

I don't think its an overeaction. We aren't Alabama but we also arent Texas State. This program should be moving forward, not backwards. Another 8-5 season with the schedule should be expected. I could see us losing to Wyoming/AF, Boise, and Nevada. I see a 6-6 or 5-7 Season and that is not good when you have had the easiest schedule is some time. No TCU, No Utah, No BYU. Since the Lousiana Bowl, anyone with a spread offense kills us. I am not fine with this mediocrity. Hoke had us on the upswing and its the AD's job to find a coach to keep the momentum going.

lol... I wish it was true but we'll be lucky to be 500 this year. This is by far the easiest schedule in the last 20 or 30 years and the MWC is so bad too, even BSU (average).

C'mon man! Mediocrity is ok! Us Aztec fans are cool with 6&6 seasons. What's the problem? Rocky is a great defensive mind who stops opposing offenses with his crazy 335 defense. Wait a minute. North Dakota put up 41? Sjsu put up 38? Fresneck put up 52? Give it time...

Your perspective is weak and flat out wrong. Why do you look at the mediocrity that is current Aztec football and compare to guys like Chuck Long? Shouldn't we all aspire to better when what we are seeing from our football program?
The 2 real points here to me are this-
1) I think we should aspire to become a program like Boise State and TCU have each been. Why shouldn't we? Saying if we go 7-5 that is good because we aren't going 3-9 like with one of our previous crappy coaches? That logic doesn't work for me and I hope it doesn't work for the decision makers in our athletic dept. And influential alumni.
2). This program has leveled off, if not dipped a bit under Rocky Long. I believe, just for conversation, that if Brady Hoke were still here, we would be seeing a much higher level of football with more discipline and less mistakes. Yeah, I know that Hoke isn't here and he isn't coming back. That's not my point. My point is Rocky Long doesn't appear to either have the leadership, discipline, skill, philosophy, resources, or something else- that maybe Brady Hoke did and SDSU needs someone who does. The stakes are too high. San Diego residents and SDSU Alums are too fair weather, bandwagon fans to stay backing either a loser or a mediocre, average, uninteresting team.
I have hearing that SDSU is a sleeping giant and a goldmine waiting to happen for, oh, about 30 years. Please dont throw the Steve Fisher story at me in attempt to say that patience paid off and that he struggled for a good while. Fisher inherited joke of a program that had only downward momentum- if there is any lower for the program to go. Long inherited a program that had buzz, interest was on an upward arc. And he has plateaued it at .500 or just above or below- to me, it's mediocrity. we just lost back to back games to 2 programs that we would have both beaten handily 2 years ago, would have beaten soundly last year (we did to FSU, and both have now passed us by. They're getting better, we are leveling off, or slightly declining. Not good.
If we were well coached, better disciplined, we are at least 4-1 right now.
Of course we let this play out, I hope that I am proven wrong, but I don't see it. And theres going to be an embarrassing 12,000-15,000 people at the last couple of home games. That's unacceptable and should be grounds for change, win or lose.

My perspective is wrong? How many bowl games have we been to in the last 20 years? How many winning seasons? Do you remember Cal Poly. Man I wish I had the short memory you have. I would certainly be happier. So you want to can rocky after one winning season a bowl appearance and a 2-3 start. Remember this conversation in a couple of years.

Rocky Long got handed more talent than any of those coaches got to sniff, he can thank Hoke for that.

That Hoke team his 2nd & final year shouldve beaten Missouri, BYU & Utah. Byu game aside, the defense had serious let downs in the 4th qtr. Point is, that team was better vs a tougher schedule. Its ALL coaching. Let us all remember our OL coach was hired in a serious crunch. And our Defensive coach, well....yikes. Not doing a good job one bit.
