Getting paid big money to play overseas is much better than being an NBA practice dummy any day. Good for Malcolm. No way. Any time in the NBA is better than no time. False

Congrats to Malcolm!
However, I agree with thesandiegan. I too thought Malcom would end up with the Bulls after his excellent Summer League play for their team!
I followed the Bulls roster moves after the season. The players they let go, whom contributed to their success was mindboggling!
When you look at their roster, Malcolm would have been a great addition to their front-court.
Boozer may be on his way out. Noah is dealing with ankle issues. Malcolm is just as tough as Gibson. Nazr Mohammed is a journeyman.
Currently, Bulls have only 13 players under contract. I believe the NBA allows team to carry 15.
Bulls could have easily paid Malcolm the league minimum or $1M for the next three years.
In return, Bulls get a young athlectic player who can defend, run the floor, finish strong inside and good passer for a big.
The only thing that I can think of the may be an issue for him is his ability to face-up and shoot the mid-range jumper.

It isn't the NBA of course, but playing overseas can be nice money and could help develop his game more than being buried on the bench in the NBA.
I like him, even if he doesn't make the NBA playing overseas professionally can be an amazing experience.

No way. Any time in the NBA is better than no time. False You're being False!! Injuries can lead to major mins. How many guys go overseas and work their way into the NBA? That's right, hardly any. So you're right overseas is the way to go for guys that have NO nba aspirations. Me, I'd take a bench opportunity in the best competition in the world over bush league in Tel Aviv anyday!

A lot of teams have given him a shot Lakers, Spurs, Rockets, Bulls. I wonder what the biggest knock on him is?

Perhaps Thomas is at the point where he sees pro basketball as a business and not a dream. He wants to see the money. I think he did the right thing for him

Does this mean he has to become Jewish? ...or does he get a waiver like some black guys who go to BYU?

Maccabi is one of the top teams overseas. In addition to their own league, they also play in the Euro League Championship. Malcolm has a chance to make a real nice living playing overseas. He will also get a ton of exposure in Europe if he plays well. It may not be the NBA, but it's better than the D-League.

Muzzle Tuff!
Great. The nba doesn't allow entry of collegiate players who played at non-BCS schools.

Following your dreams is for young single people not young people trying to provide for their family.

Heck, I would play in the Z-League for $65K per month! Money is money whether I am making it in the NBA League, CBA League, D-League, Euro-League, Recreation League, Minor League or Z-League!

You have no idea what you're talking about. The league he's going to play in is anything but "bush league," and there are lots of former NBAers in it. And guys jump from euroleagues to the NBA all the time. I'd go there over a season of 10 day contracts any day of the week.
