Like some have suggested, the BE needs BYU more than BYU needs the BE.

We know full well how they are like as a conference mate. We experienced their fans' arrogance, holier-than-thou and condescending attitude countless times. Is the additional $200k in our coffers really worth that much to be their league mate again? They may be an attractive candidate but I honestly could careless what happens to their football program. They've become less relevant nationally and hope they continue towards that path of obscurity.
Unfortunately, money will dictate the nBE's next round of expansion and our TV partners will have an influence on who we add to improve their ratings. I just hope that when it happens, other western teams would have made significant progress.
Go AZTECS!!! Beat North Dakota!!

Only if we get a home game vs those cheaters with Aztec alums who also work for SDSU in the replay booth.

but to answer the question at hand.....
The more you hate a team the more you should want them on our schedule.
Who draws a bigger crowd and gets people excited about the game: Hawaii, Wyoming, North Dakota, etc. or BYU?

I'd rather have Fresno State or UNLV or Hawaii fans visit.

Having this kind of rival would be awesome...we could all rally around a common hatred of a team.
Riddle me this Aztec Mesa...what team on the 2012 schedule are we all rallying around with a common hatred and the singular goal of victory?
...I'll wait.

My vote is yes if... -before the tv deal gets signed, as sgf mentioned, an additional $200k/year would be nice. -if no concessions are made, other wise ybu can kiss my ass.
Yes I hate byu, but I'm a big picture kinda guy.

Really the entire money question revolves around how much money you believe the NBE contract will generate without BYU and substituting some other school versus how much value you believe BYU adds to the tv contract.
We know (someone please correct me if I am wrong) that BYU is getting roughly $1.0 million per game from ESPN. That deal was signed a year ago. Assuming college football programming inflation of 20%, we'll say that BYU can generate $1.2 million per game in tv revenue. Further assume that BYU games are broadcast every week with whichever network signs with the NBE.
IF we assume that the NBE contract ex BYU and plus some other school would generate say $6.4 million per school per year then adding BYU would be accretive by roughly $570,000 per school per year. Assuming that the contract is $10 million per school per year then BYU is accretive by just $310,000 per school. Further, if the contract is $12 million per school per year the accretion is just $170,000.
Thus the benefit from adding BYU is entirely subject to the value you place on the tv contract for the NBE ex BYU.
Regardless, IMO they aren't worth the extra few hundred thousand we would accrue if they joined.

Absolutely. We need to get a strong team to give the conference as much credibility as possible.

Very short sighted. BYU has a national presence and fills stadiums. In other words...they are money. Have to agree with you on this. As much as we may dislike BYU they do have a national presence (good & bad), and they would help in the PR department with the BE. I don't think we will see a game like replay gate again, so I voted yes with some reservations.

No, I don't WANT them (I hate them), but we do need them so I would say sign them up now. It makes the conference stronger.
