The 2nd half of the Washington gave a hint into something I have not seen from an Aztecs football team, ever. And Saturday night's game confirmed it.
So I am watching the game a the Q with a buddy and witnessing the fastest and strongest Aztecs team I have ever seen. Even though we didn't beat Washngton I would say that in the second half we were clearly the more physical of the two teams. And this past Saturday night it truely was no contest. Many may say that this how its supposed to be, the Aztecs physically more dominant than a servcie academy. But how many times have you actually been able to confirm this with the results and score proving it.
This is the culmanation of the hard work put in last 3 years. It looks like Adam Hall left off where Wellman did after taking a little step back last year. We have had many physically strong and skilled players in the past but not a physical team and program that looks like it is ready to take off.
I am pretty amped up for the direction that the programs looks to be moving, especially with the defense. That Army team had no chance hitting the edge. Our guys were literally flying to the football. Strong and fast.

I have great seats in he endzone and I saw the same thing. I thought that this defense showed that it was faster and stronger than I have ever seen in Aztec uniforms. That is the point of view of a guy who has been going to games since 1985.

Great note, and when more than half the defense rotates out every play or two, the guys coming in are at the same level. V. Harris is absolutely massive out there.

Well, isn't this music to our collective ears. I wish we could have played Washington a little later in the season when we could have "had it together" more. It might have had a different outcome!

The defense looks quick, fast, and big. The offense meah... Besides lockett no one else has football wheels. The eye ball test almost tells me that the both QB's could beat the majority of the offense on a 40 yards dash.

Coach of the year - Adam Hall! We were able to handle an Army d line that averaged 230 and their o line which was in the 250 range. As the schedule progresses the competition gets a little bigger. But this is a different Aztecs team than in years past. One thought I came away with from Saturday's game is Chad young may kill someone this year. He doesn't block he buries.

It may be a little early, however, from my perspective Coach Hall was the RIGHT hire and those that he was not qualified and/or was brought in on the cheap need to reassess their positions.
In general, you can not always judge the proverbial book by its cover. Coach Hall has 'it' and 'it' is a burning desire to do what ever it takes to get HIS alma mater to be in a position of 'strength' regardless of who is on the other side of the line of scrimmage.
A true Azted for Life is Coach Hall and by the way, the offensive line under Coach Schmidt has done well considering the two tackles are new as is one of the OG's.
Congrats to BOTH of the 'new', hired on the cheap per some, coaches who have done the school and faithful alumni proud.

I agree. This is the main reason why I don't understand the anti-rocky crowd. This team plays hard and physical every game. Even when they start slow it is not because of lack of effort, but usually missed assignments. As this team matures they are going to be very good!
You can criticize the 3-3-5, but as a fan there is no defense that is more entertaining to watch!

I loved how this D swarmed to the ball. They hit like you stole something from them too.

AGREE 100%!!! This defense is fast, mean and nasty. I feel sorry for the opposing offense as they will never be hit harder in their life. I remember watching the Aztecs play Navy last year, and at a point I felt bad for Navy's offense due to them being hit hard every play. Plus, with defensive rotation Rocky keeps them fresh and fast. I love watching Rock's defense, a thing of beauty... The Dakota guys do not have a chance...

I was very pleased with the depth of rotation on the Defense. I think every DL played, including Kottman, Beed et al. Same for the DBs and LBs...short of the true Frosh. Nothing like getting playing time early in the season.
