I did a little quick math based on their point scale and SDSU couldn't have even been all that close to #50 either. The problem is all of the really, really awful years. If the hoops team had been just middling rather than atrocious, there might have been an outside shot at making the list. But the negative points for really bad seasons really negated how good the team has been over the last 7 years or so.

Yeah, it's a good reminder that we are living in the golden era. Soak it up!

totally shocked about Boise. so if they are ahead of SDSU despite your recent success, why do they get such a bad rap?

UC Irvine not really surprised about Long Beach. Shocked about Pacific being top 100 though. Wonder if Michael Olowokandi has anything to do with it? Fullerton has one elite eight to speak of and only one other tournament appearance all time. Irvine is where they should be. Santa Barbara has only had two five year stretches of solid basketball the last half-century. Do the espn folks take NBA players produced into the equation?

I don't believe so from what I've read. if that is the case, then Pacific being top 100 really surprises me. they did win a game in the '04 and '05 tournaments, and i believe they have a regional semifinal in their resume as well but they are not the usual participants historically. Good for Pacific

I've found that 'objective' rankings seem to always have some sort of conclusion that they're going for. I mean, I dislike UCLA as much as the next guy, but to say UNC has been better over the last 50 years is arguable at best.

I concur. 3 NCAA's and 2 W's does not make a top 10.
