Sorry to say I'm thinking something like 31-13 UW. We'll get better though. You must be assessing the team similarly to me. It seems to me we are now back to about where we were during the early part of Tollner's tenure. In other words, we're now good enough again to beat bottom tier Pac schools in Qualcomm but when it comes to the Pac, that's it. Since UDub is a middle tier Pac school and we're playing them on the road, I don't blame their fans for thinking they will win easily. I always go into these Pac 12 openers hoping for the best but realistic expecting something quite disappointig. Now, just maybe Rocky's kamikaze defense can throw UW into a fit, get them on their heels. Just maybe the coming out party of Katz to Ruffin (I said Butler the other day) will be something we'll all talk about afterwards. Just maybe the rookie kicker hits a 49 yarder at the buzzer and go 1-25 vs. Pac. Maybe! I'm glad we still have another week to get nervous. Hurry CF. Looking forward, we can't get complacent like we did in the 1996-1998 era. When we choked at UNLV in '96, I thought it was a complete aberration. Turns out that horrific loss was actually a premonition of things to come. As JYP and SteveEM said on Aztectalk before the '99 season and many of us thought they were nuts, word was Ted stopped working hard once Bay gave him a 10-year extension. I don't see a driven guy like Rocky ever getting lazy but Ted was shown the door a year too late and then we made a bad hire to replace him and even a worse one thereafter and those mistakes almost destroyed Aztecs football. Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.

Can you blame them? We won at Arizona in 1977 but they didn't join the Pac-10 until the following year. Therefore, our record against members of the Pac-10/12 on the road is 0-24. The utter futility is just amazing. So sorry, but I see us doing nothing better than staying within 14 points until midway through the fourth quarter and then them scoring another TD to put it away. Personally, I wouldn't touch the betting line, whatever it now is, since I never bet against the Aztecs. Sorry to say I'm thinking something like 31-13 UW. We'll get better though. I thought we beat CAL on the road in the 90's.

I thought we be CAL on the road in the 90's. I'm pretty sure SDSU beat Keith Gilbertson's version of Cal FB 2 out of 3 times. It would have been a sweep except 4? starters got benched due to contact with an agent!

It would have been a sweep except 4? starters got benched due to contact with an agent! Correction: the starters were not in contact with an agent. The four starters attended a fund raiser that went late and they returned the rental cars necessary to get to the fund raiser, the next morning. San Diego State self-reported this incident and the ncaa dragged its feet for a really long time. Had the ncaa made its decision, and timely, we would have had our stars back in time for the Cal-comm game which was lost only by the clock operator who deliberately held the clock from expiring before half and gave the cheatin' pac-fudge Cal-comms a free 3 point field goal and then the horrific call on the Aztec two point conversion when the pass interference call was ruled on us...five points, we lost by only two in the piss-poor stadium, up in the frozen, dank and dirty, Wheatberry Canyon. HAM Tax

HAM Tax OK, thanks I knew there was a car related to the 1996 mess & Cal got lucky when 4 starters sat!

I hear you! Living in Seattle I have been getting shite from husky fans for about a week now, they are cocksure that they will win going away! Can you blame them?
