This dudes a dbag, widely known. If you're going to get upset over what every analyst says about our team you're going to have a tough week.
Nothing anyone says can affect us now. Matchups are set, games will be decided on the court. Perception is meaningless now besides for gambling.

What do you expect from a guy who can't spell "Greg" or "Doyle"?

Doyle is known to write crap like this to generate talk/page clicks. He's a douche.

Little known fact: The team is actually coached by a cabal of Aztec Mesa posters. Steve Fisher just prints out the threads and passes them around to the players before each game. Well, that's just great! We had a good thing going and now you blow the whistle on us. Super. I hope you realize that there will be repercussions for your lack of discretion! AzWm

I'm curious what he's suggesting by saying "whoever is coaching the team behind the scenes." I have no idea what this could be in reference to. I'm wondering if there is a story or something I'm not aware of? Was there some theory that Fish won COY but wasn't deserving of it for this reason?

There is a perception with Fisher dating back to his Michigan days that he just rolls the ball out and lets his players play, street ball style. This comment is merely him saying that if anyone is actually teaching the guys anything it isn't Fisher. It's a stupid comment by a stupid man who is an immature prick that gets hated on by all his peers and has zero credibility. Which is why I said to ignore what people say, it doesn't matter. The fact that you're this concerned with his comments means that he succeeded in his goal of saying outlandish $#!+ to get page views.

LOL, I'd ask who pissed in your cereal this morning... but I've realized asking questions to satisfy curiousity is just going to upset you further.

My guess is that he's insinuating that Fish is just a figurehead like JoePa was perceived to be at Penn St. There was also a knock on Fish back in the Fab 5 days that he just rolled the ball out and just let his teams use their superior athleticism and talent to win all the games. Again, SDSU is still relatively new on the national scene and a lot of uninformed analysts might just fall back on that perception.

We also have a lot of national commentators who need to write stories with limited or zero knowledge of teams, so comments like these come out. It's also not the first time he's done something like this.

There's a difference between reading a roster and stat sheet (and maybe KenPom) and spewing trash like that. These guys have a responsibility to not breed ignorance. Anyway, the reasons we're not seen in a favorable light are: 1) we're not efficiency darlings like UNM; 2) UNLV is still a national brand; 3) we're an annoying best that does nothing particularly well

Fisher is known for letting his teams play free and to play through mistakes. This style/philosophy can cause some ugly basketball, but it also allows athletic players like Jamaal to excel. Controlling coaches and their east coast media lackey's can't stand it though...

Up until last year, many psotters had said the same thing in ATalk. Ol' "Roll the Ball Out" Fisher... We know who they are, some admitted being wrong, others just deny they were of that camp. Unfortunately, those old forums weren't preserved so they can just live on in denial!!! Those that saw what Fish was doing and were as adamant in his defense are smugly vindicated.
