I think another spot opens up, anyone know if Alec is close to graduating if so he could possibly transfer without sitting out another year.

If its one, I think Fish wants Shepard. If for some reason another schollie opens up, then Im hoping Pelle makes his way here, although I'd be more than happy if January came. I think Pelle would just fit sooner as James Johnson can't play until after Fall. And if he ends up a one year guy it wouldn't be too bad as Spencer would be more polished and Johnson would be solid as well after their first year with us.

Funny how much everyone on this board hates Alec Williams. His teammates love him. Not all players can be rah rah guys in games. He is a composed person, which apparently to all of the posters on here means he shows no emotion. He is outclassed in athletic talent on this team, but he works hard in practice. Sure he could transfer, and possibly get a lot more minutes on a crappier team, or he can continue to enjoy being on a powerhouse, and know that while he may not get to contribute a whole hell of a lot during games, he does have a lot to do with it by being a huge practice guy. His teammates love him, leave the guy be!

I mean I think the team is made up of really good kids, but watch Alec here around 45 seconds after Jamaal hits his shot: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hC3U8kGwFlkWatch any video of that, does it look like Alec Williams is excited? Like he loves him teammates and is so glad they just won? Just saying. Also, he doesn't play defense.

Let’s not bag on current players who are working hard to represent SDSU on and off the court. I say you hold the scholarship for Shepard. He’s our #1 target and at 6’9” could play four positions on the court. Shepard was completely in Shabazz’s head in their game and wasn’t even phased about going against the #1 player. If Shepard chooses to go elsewhere then you have two great players to choose from. You pick the guy who wants to be here, the guy who’ll be eligible and the guy who will fill the biggest void for next year’s team or the following year’s team. No matter what we have some great players interested in playing here and hopefully we land one of them.

I think Alec will end up leaving and we get Shepard and January. No way Alec leaves, why would he? He had a chance to redshirt last season and didn't, why would he transfer out, sit out a year, then play his senior season somewhere else. Dude could be on the bench for a final four team next season, its not like he needs to show off for NBA scouts.

He doesn't need to sit out if he is a grad guy like green was, also remember scholarships are 1 year renewal systems, Fisher will be honest with him on how he feels.

Any or all of the three would be great - but seems Shepard is the man - hope we land him!

This is Alec's 3rd year as a student at SDSU, is he going to graduate in a few months? I don't know but I'm guessing not. Look, if playing time was a concern for Alec then he would have redshirted either last season or the one before. I'm sure he wants to be on the court but I doubt it would be worth it all of what I describe above when he'll get to go to the NCAA tournament (for a 4th straigtht year) coming back for his senior season. I could see a player like LB Franklin transferring as he has 2 years left - and while has been playing more / well of late - isn't likely to pass X Thames (or Shepard if he plays the Rose roll).

Shepard is the one I want. It's crazy to think that only 4 years ago, a guy like Anthony January would be our most coveted recruit. I definitely would be just as excited if we landed Norvel Pelle as I would be if we landed Shepard.

I doubt we get both Shepard & January. Considering they're similar games I doubt they'd want to be competing with each other minutewise for four years (hypothetically). I think it's one or the other, than the extra schollie talks heat up if Pelle decides he wants to come too.
