Since I was on vacation and didn't see the game, I watched the replay last night for the first time.
While that game had the same old issues of falling apart, mistakes, and that familiar ending we are all used to with UCLA......I did see some real good things.
I thought the Aztecs were improved in almost every area from last year, except the breakdown on special teams.
-The Oline wasn't great, but an improvement from last year.
-Ryan Lindley was up and down, but man is he going to be a QB.
-Our young running backs got some experience and with a few more holes will gain some yards.
-Our receivers looked good.
-Oh, that defense. I really liked what I saw with the defense. Big improvement.
Overall and most important.....attitude. They never gave up, they played hard, and represented well.
Five wins minimum this year. 7 next year.
***Hoke and the boys are going to get this thing done......IF.....we allow them to stay long enough to build it.

I'm still sticking to six wins and, hopefully, a post season bowl.
We win the next 3 OOC.
BYU - L
TCU - L
Utah - L
Wyoming - W
New Mexico - W
CSU - W
Air Force - Tossup. Depends on defense
UNLV - Tossup.
CSU - Tossup.
All we need is one of the tossup games.

Colorado is taking on Toledo tonight and is only a 4 point favorite, so the bookies don't think much of them. This game may tell us a bit more about whether CSU is that good or CU is that bad.

I am anxious for Colorado/Toledo. I'm not sure why. Personally, I'm not convinced CSU is as strong as many believe them to be based upon that win over CU. Everyone is assuming we'll lose to CSU and that's an assumption I'm not prepared to make yet. Hell, with a badly coached team and Lindley not allowed, or unable to throw deep, we damn near beat them last year and would have won had better coaching been there. We've won 3 of the last 4 times we've played them at the Fort - '01, '05 and '07. =Bob |

Very nice to see one of us small guys bury a BCS team. Now I wonder what Hawkins thinks about leaing Boise and for that matter who was the real glue that built and held Boise State togerther? Hawkins or Chris Petterson?
