Don't forget.. a better offense can really help out a defense. Score a lot of points, the D can gamble. Long drives, the defense gets rest. Consistent 1st downs.. the other team just plain has the ball less. They're more out of synch, your defense is better able to disrupt. Oh and did I mention field position. All ways a good offense can make your D look good. I agree with everything you've written, but has been said it's all predicated on improved oline play, especially the part about long drives, that cannot be accomplished without running the ball. If we can't run the ball effectively, the best we could hope for is a big play offense and that would be a detriment to our D. I totally agree with you. It's time off the clock that matters.. and points of course. Remember the really old Chargers?? Score fast, then get scored upon long. Bad combo. Running game good. Bombs and no defense not so good... but sometimes even that is enough to win. Let's face it.. good offense and poor defense is still better than terrible offense and horrible defense... ala SDSU the last five years.

The Little Rock paper obviously does that by taking away from coverage of their local NFL franchise and first-place by seven games over you-know-who major league baseball team. I am sitting here in Arkansas for the last 9 days. Every day the Little Rock paper has a column on the Hawgs. Every single day. So you are defending the UT and their Aztec coverage?

Some of you are getting ahead of yourselves. You shouldn't predict wins based soley on the offense, it's just 1/3 of what you have to factor. For all the talent I see at the O skill positions I don't see the equivalent on the D. ST remains a bit of a mystery until we find out about the PK postion.
