Our recruiting seems to be going well. But for this program to really take off we need some beef on both sides of the ball. Not just big guys but really good players!

I understand your concern...But...
We have plenty of young O Lineman in the frosh, Red frosh, Soph, and Junior classes.
I'm not saying we don't need a couple of O Lineman if they are big time players, but we have other needs right now.

Steve----Help me out. Who are the RS frosh & incoming frosh "O" linemen? We really need "D" linemen!! Chuck Long recruited many Olineman that are just now sophs and juniors. The next recruiting season by Brady Hoke will be very important for OLineman (IMO) The previous staff also recruited a "decent" amount of D Lineman who are still young.....Jerome Long, BJ Williams, Erin Moses, JJ Atuele, Ernie Lawson. I feel we are in more need of DLine than OLine right now....but I feel both will be addressed next recruiting season, not this one. In Hoke I Trust!!!

DL: Everett Beed, Cody Galea, Kenneth Galea'i, Dontrelle Onuahu, Jordan Thomas OL: Garrett Corbet, Zach Dilley (plus the 3 JC guys) I don't believe we have RS lineman this year as Hoke did not recruit any OL his first year here as he did not have time to evaluate them before LOI day.

Im pretty sure Hoke & Co. know exactly what they are doing. we all just need to sit back and enjoy the ride rather than try to take control of it, or rather act like we have control of it.

I imagine we'll see a couple of jucos again this year, and maybe the year after, while we plug some leaks - I don't think we'll see a dozen lineman, but a couple high schoolers and a couple jucos the next couple years

I believe we had zero linemen recruits at this time last year and we ended up with 4 D linemen and 5 O linemen. It’s still early, In Hoke We Trust!

Don't forget the walk-ons and un-named transfers we don't know much about.
The hungriest of the group may crack the two-deep and become a real find.
Oldie Out

Steve, The linemen recruits for Long were pretty good on size coming out of high school, but he brought in no pulling guard types that I saw. After two years of Long, I got so Damned Depressed that I simply stopped paying attention to anything that went on with recruiting. I used to follow the progress of the better high school kids in San Diego County. If a kid had college potential, I could tell you about him. I used to scout them when I was taking my eight or nine boys to some inexpensive high school entertainment. Unfortunately, after that initial spell with that blubbering buffoon Long, I put everything on the back burner and even stopped going to high school games. I did watch Escondido twice and Mira Mesa three times last year. Ricky was the real thing, but beyond that I am not qualified any more to comment on the local talent. I do not know what the foot speed numbers were on the Aztec linemen recruits last year, but I know that we seriously lacked speed when Long was fired. Which of any line recruits that Hoke brought in had any footspeed? The simple fact of the matter is in this conference if you can not run the ball to take pressure off of the QB, you will not finish in the top three and almost guarantee yourself a bottom half finish.

Who are our pulling guards (or tackles if that is where we want to put them in our run blocking scheme)? We need the type of pulling guard who can pop out of the tight end's arse and slobber knock the Defensive End or the outside linebacker with consistency. If BYU can do it, so should we.

Over the last few days I'm become convinced everything will be fine so long as our players aren't hemoglobin deficient.

Hoke is very picky about his lineman knowing that they can't change positions very easily.
Can't wait for the season to start, going to take some long lunch breaks in hopes to catch fall camp.

I agree Long didn't bring in any pulling type guards. That is because he decided to build his team around Ryan Lindley and the shot gun. I mentioned this when we fired Long. I said no matter how good Hoke and staff are, it will delay the progress of the lines on both sides... NOT because I thought Chuck Long was a better coach than Brady Hoke, but because after 3 years we bring in a coach who needs totally different style of Olineman and Dlineman to run his systems. That wasn't hard to figure, it happens everytime there is a coaching change at any school. On Ricky Seale. Loved him. Man how I wish he had singed with us.
