Are they "the most productive"? Prove it. Seems to me it's more likely the lower wage people who can't find jobs who are leaving. =Bob We'll find out, won't we? You "prove it" that it's the lower wage people leaving. You made the original statement. It's up to you to prove that statement is accurate. It is not in the least incumbent upon me to prove my statement. See, this is the way it works in a logical argument, Dave. If you offer a comment, you own it. The person who challenges you on it doesn't need to offer any sort of argument until you can back up yours, which you have not done. However, I will offer you the flaw in my argument, since you apparently aren't quick enough to pick up on. In a declining economy, in a City that has far too much invested in industries that rely upon "service workers", the lower-class workers may not be capable of working and, in fact, may be working in jobs that are the only ones available. But given that, how is the economy helped? What would you suggest we do in order to ensure a wide-spread economic base other than simply bitching about "liberals" and "spending"? The simple fact is this, Dave. You never offer anything other than sarcastic comments about my comments. You never actually discuss the issues. You have fun insulting me, but I cannot remember the last time you offered anything of substance. The best you seem capable of doing is offering this or that website that "shows" that the Democrats are as bad as the Republicans. Get in the game, Dave. Show us that you've got the gray matter to discuss things or get off the farging pot. =Bob

>>>One of the reasons I'm not all that worried about businesses leaving is because that will result in a negative population growth and I think that's what this state really needs.<<<the=Perfesser Sounds good... ...but the ones leaving will be the ones who are the most productive. You'll just run out of other peoples' money to pay for your utopia that much sooner. Are they "the most productive"? Prove it. Seems to me it's more likely the lower wage people who can't find jobs who are leaving. =Bob When small business moves out it is upper income businessmen who are leaving, people with money. The people who work in those businesses will also follow as will high net worth people if they are tired of being the seed corn that is being eaten. There will be lower income folks moving to some extent, but that is not the problem nor any kind solution. California and Florida are not alike in many ways as far as this recession is concerned.

You seem to want to conflate "lower-wage" with non-productive, and that is not at all what I said. I don't disagree that so-called "lower-wage" people may want to go elsewhere. They want a job, and they will, when they can, follow the jobs. The point you seem to want to avoid is that California is not that business friendly, and you want to ignore the fact that when those businesses go elsewhere the productive workers (of whatever wage level) will tend to follow. Why do you think California's unemployment rate is so much higher than the national average? www.miamiherald.com/business/nation/story/1196627.htmlblog.kiplinger.com/politics/2009/07/california-business-climate-ra.html
