I have been watching this board for 2 years and I see very few students post here. Is it because they have another board somewhere for students? It makes me wonder if there is a significant student interest in football (or the other sports).
I enjoy the board but it seems there are about 15 frequent posters who donate 90% of the traffic.
Just sayin'.

The last two boards had the most students on it that I have ever seen our Aztec boards.
Not sure where they are now. Seems that the post less at this time of the year and get real active as we come closer to football season.

I'm a student and I check this board from time to time. Outside of consulting rivals, my offseason mostly involves beer, girls, and soul killing work.

I was a student when I first joined, but I guess one couldn't say that I have ever been a super "vocal" poster. It will be interesting to see what happens in the fall...

It is good to hear from a student.
I recognize it is....JULY! The students are not yet on campus.
Maybe this board can get some PR on campus about this us.

I was a student last decade, and a friend of mine told me about the board maybe in my 3rd or 4th year - the thought never really crossed my mind of looking for a message board to bull$#!+ and argue with the other Aztec fans. Not to mention, when you're going to school, working and doing the other things that college kids should be doing, sports message boards don't usually enter in.

I follow a couple of other "football school" boards. Their have each a student body very active on the boards. They know lots about their recruits, assistant coaches, and the opponents, etc. It may interfere with the books, but probably not the beer. I have no knowledge of 'The Show'

I wasn't aware that The Show had their own website, but it really doesn't surprise me given the feud that a few people on here got into with them.
However, for any students who do come on this site, I would suggest that you show up at football games and encourage every student you know to do the same. As it stands, a lot of students show up in the parking lot to drink and then take the trolley back to campus for dorm parties, or to the Gaslamp or, more stupidly, drive to PB and hang out at the bars.
We really do not have a student section at football games because, as near as I can tell, students would rather get blitzed than spend time watching football. I'd love to say that it was different when I was a student, but it wasn't that much better - maybe 3K at the games. But Jeez, 3K is certainly better than the couple hundred who show up these days.
I recognize that there are a lot of distractions in San Diego, but really, how difficult is it to spend 5 or 6 Saturdays out of an entire year cheering for your football team? I don't know - have we become such a dweeb school that the students are no longer interested in college sports?

When I was a student I went to the football games, but I was way to busy on school work to mess with boards. Plus, in 1970 these things didn't exist. There was one gigantic computer fed with punch cards over the cafeteria if I remember correctly.

In the post Marshall 90's the parking lot was packed, yet the stadium was empty...now they're both empty.

You may have been referring to jobs that weren't "big" but required intense number crunching for scientific applications. The computers used for that couldn't handle the big work that an IBM 360 could.
