The altar of dribble-drive is starting to fill-up again. Perhaps the MVP of the team last year is starting to get subtle dogging, again. I'm sure in a couple months the guy that will have started 1st or 2nd most games in aztec history will be pure horse $#!+, again. Maybe DJ will run out of control this year down the court and turn the ball over more and we'll be happier. When trying to think who DJ reminds me of --- D. Fisher, much maligned, the fan base can't stand him, begrudgingly give him respect, but who hits the big shot? who takes care of the ball? who keeps the game from spiraling out of control?
Richie gets better with time, DJ gets worse (even though his stats get better)

Too much dribbling by your PG stagnates your offense and frustrate the players who are open! And that's the thing ... we don't necessarily need a PG to get a ton of assists because (I believe) we were the only team in the MWC to have 4 players average more than 2 assist per game. For Thomas to lead us in assists, would probably be the best thing for the team, because that would mean we were cutting and moving without the ball and hitting a ton of outside shots. Because all of our guards this year should be able to drive and kick ... I would expect DJ's assists to actually go down.

Assists like steals only tell part of the story - people have to hit shots, or not be fouled, or not make their own offensive move for the passer to get an assist. Feeding the post, Davis/Shelley firing up shots (and missing), or scoring a ton of points off putt-backs makes looking at assists from last year sort of useless. You can score a basket/or points without an assist, you can't score a basket/points on a turnover.
