I disagree with the fans who are negative on SDSU football (afan predictions, et. al). I believe SDSU football just got a boost from all the conference realignments, including UTAH going to the Pac 12.
Here is why: 1. Brady Hoke and staff. I believe he is the real deal. He is a fighter, he is recruiting everyone (love that!). Everything rises and falls on leadership - everything. And we have a solid leader in place to take this program to the next level. 2. With UTAH gone, we don't play them anymore. If they had stayed AND we played both them and Boise, that would likely be two losses for each of the several years until our program was built. 3. We dodged a bullet with the Big 12 staying together. Yes, the MWC was putting up a good front of solidarity, but things have a way of breaking apart once real money is on the table. Just look at all the negatives being thrown around about Baylor. We were very vulnerable and had one...count it one...thread of hope - the loyalty of the other MWC schools to us. Now we have a few years to build and get better (which I absolutely believe we will do) and EARN our way into a spot worthy of respect. 4. We still have a great school, the best city in the USA, an awesome pro stadium to play in, a superb basketball team and soem very loyal fans. Of course we need more, but that comes with wins, which I predict many more in the next few years. I still think we will win 6 games this season, become bowl eligible and we will be in a bowl within the next 2 years.

Barring key injury's I think the Aztecs will win as many as eight games,They blew BYU, Wyoming and UNLV they were very close to haveing a winning season. I think this year they will turn the corner and will win consistently after that. I also see CSU improving a great deal in the next two years. I think the league will have 6 solid teams in the future. SDSU,TCU, Boise State,CSU and Air Force, and BYU. However I expect BYU to jump when they can. Remember is was BYU and Utah the scuttled the WAC. Now they will do whatever they think is in their best interest,we would be better off without both of them . When they leave bring in Houston and SMU ,SMU will be a power under June Jones, Wow Boise versus a wild SMU team. Both schools have made major commitments to wining football.

I agree with both the above posters.
I see the Aztecs with this staff becoming the rising program of the MWC.
Boise State will still be good. BYU will still be good. Utah is gone. Air Force is Air Force.
The Aztecs are going to be the next team to get up in that 1/3 of the conf. and start playing some ball.
I know we were 4-8 last year and lost out at the end of the season with some embarrassing games.
I still saw improvement in almost every area of the program. I see improvement right now in the recruiting (at least we are recruiting head to head with some of the so called better teams).
The mind set of the players is so key and I see that being one of the biggest challenges of this staff, but I think they are getting it done.
I will be very surprised if we don't win 6 games this season and I agree with SteveEm....maybe 7.
Next year I see 7 minimum and possibly 8.
Our time is here.

Second that thought. You are not the only one. But we're getting so good at it.

Correction. We've been good at it for some time. We're so good that our excellent losing is now boring. Time to redirect to winning. Talk to me again once we're bored with winning. But we're getting so good at it.

But we're getting so good at it. True, we haven't got to Prarie View A&M level, but you don't have to be Stevie Ray Vaughn before you decide to play piano

Concur, we did indeed dodge a bullet. It is disconcerting, to say the least, to have to rely on the loyalty of other institutions. We need to rely on our own capabilities and performance. I share your view of Brady Hoke, I'm just a little unsure how long it will take him to straighten this mess out. The Fred Noonan School of Navigation.

I hope we will improve, but there is no possible way we win eight games next season unless a few teams forfeit.
