A quick question. Does anyone know if the MWC can charge Utah an exit Fee like the Big 12 did to Nebraska and Colorado?

I don't think so. According to the MWC commish a few weeks ago, ... there is virtually nothing in place holding teams in the conference other than an agreement.

No, Thompson basically said that he doesn't want a team in the conference that doesn't want to be there.

If Utah wants to get dissed up one side and down the other by a bunch of arrogant schools, it's their right to do so, but I would love to see the halftime show the first time Utah plays at Stanford because kids are idiots and will see Utah as being LDS, even if Utah isn't LDS, and they will dis on Utah something fierce. Utah had a good home and decided to leave it. I suppose the big bucks count for something, but so does loyalty and Utah is officially a whore. If I were running BYU, I'd not bother to play them for a very long time. =Bob

=Bob, SDSU would do the exact same thing in a heart beat and we'd all be f'ing stoked about it. To call someone (or something in this case) a whore for leaving a mediocure situation for a very very good situation just isn't right. I generally agree with you views, but this time your way off base calling them that.
And on the surface, if I were BYU, I'd do the same as you suggested, but upon looking longer at it, I'd keep it in place and just make sure I kicked their a**.

SDSU has NO natural rivals in the MWC. We have no historic series tying us to the conference. There's no reason for SDSU to turn down a Pac-64 offer since there would be geographic rivals there for us (as opposed to the MWC where the closest rival is UNLV). Utah sold out their history and tradition to make this move.

Reality is we would never be invited to even a PAC 24. Wyoming would be voted in before we would. USC/UCLA would hate to lose southern cal...

THey do apy an exit fee of sorts - they leave a huge share of NCAA $$ to the conference in deferrred payments forom NCAA appearances in BSKB and (I think) FB post season shares.
