Why add when you can split stuff 10 ways instead of 12.

Why add when you can split stuff 10 ways instead of 12. And word has it that Texas will push to change the 12-school minimum for holding a conference football championship game.

Why add two more teams and dilute total revenue by 20% per team? The PAC-10 made a fundamental error by assuming Texas was a "done deal" when they invited Colorado. Adding Utah to the PAC-10 will require an additional $10 or $15 million in additional revenue for each team just to break even.

No, the Big 12 will not add any more teams for the time being. The coaches were never in favor of the Championship game and it cost the Big 12 several chances for a national championship.

Texas will not share the Texass market with TCU. Not now. Not never. Tough to conceive of anyone wanting to join the Big Texas league when they have to scrape up their own TV contract. I agree with other that I can't believe that Oklahoma was this stupid. Good for them that they put a lot of butts in their seats. They won't have much else. ESPN just found their Wednesday night TV teams.

I think the Big 12 will add two more teams.
I hope it is San Diego State and UNLV.

Depends on who they can add. Having a championship game could be amjor barganing chip with their TV deal.

CU and Utah was the original plan, then became the fallback plan, and the idea was to create a Pac-12 TV network and add the Denver and SLC markets while also allowing for creation of a conference football championship game. That will all still be in the works. Still, that's nothing in comparison to what the Big Ten has done. The Big Ten added just one more mouth to feed and that one more mouth is going to bring the Big Ten double the revenue of CU and Utah combined.

TCU would NEVER be considered as long as the Longhorns are in the Big12-2 / whatever conference.

[/quote _________________________________________________ Well, lets say this.......I certainly don't expect it to happen. I do think it makes sense for the the Big 12 if they add these two. It gets them very big markets that they don't already have and recruiting ties to those markets (better than what they have now). I would disappointed if I found out that Dr. Weber had not approached the Big 12 with the idea of San Diego State and UNLV to the Big 12.

Steve I too would be disappointed if Dr. Weber had not at least had some informal conversations with these folk. I would hope that he and Sterk are exploring all possible ramifications, thinking of the possible options like the folks on this board have been and then doing something to assess those options. This is not the time to be timid or reactive. They need to be out there assessing financial and perceptual reality. We who are confined to the internet are also constrained by lack of facts. I would be sorely disappointed if those with the facts are not looking at this with a highly critical eye. The Fred Noonan School of Navigation.

I started a thread a couple of weeks ago (when the Pac 10 invite first came out in the news) on the OU board about inviting the Aztecs and UNLV. While the thread was not met enthusiastically, there were some interesting comments and a couple of posters actually thought it would work. I will try to find that link. Here it is... mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=146&f=2445&t=5999501
