Their TV model doesn't make sense at 12 teams at this point. The entire deal is for Beebe to jack up the money he can promise to UT to get them to stay. Splitting it 10 ways is way easier than splitting it 12 ways. No way the Big 12 adds any other teams. Also, Texas A&M aren't going anywhere. All the talk of them going to the SEC is just that...talk. They HAVE to look like they are independent of Texas to save some kind of face...even though everyone knows they are UT's puppy.
I also think that the Texas political scene has gotten involved on this behind closed doors. I would not be surprised one single bit if some Texas Legistlator Alumni from Baylor or some other school threatened UT with all kinds of hurt if they left to help them see the light of staying. I have no proof of this, but it makes sense for this quick turn-a-round.

A few thoughts:
1. Great move to add Boise State as a preemptive strike. With the Utes all but gone, the MWC will be in a similar spot in one area (football) and behind elsewhere (the rest of the teams).
2. Good luck to the reformed U Texas conference. Looks like the rest of the schools will never make as much as UT. The Longhorns are to their conference what the Yankees are to MLB.
3. The super-conference is now gone? Maybe, and--when you think about sharing money 16 ways--it makes sense.
4. Does the WAC stand pat when Utah exits? They could one to get to 10. Or, add three to get to 12 for a playoff. Fresno State, Houston (if TCU allows ;-) ) and... that's the problem... not enough talent out there. (Nevada? Hawaii? Utah State?).
5. The WAC now needs to add at least one. And there are no DI FBS football programs to pluck.

One worry to me. If this plays out and the Big 12 (which is now 10) stays. I think they will go to 12 teams.
I think they may invite BYU and Utah.

The decision is $$ driven and none of us have access to that kind of data. Will each school get a bigger payday by 10 teams or 12? The consensus Internet view seems to be no $$ advantage to going to 12. But, then again, all the Internet "knowledgeable sources" said the demise of the Big 12 was a foregone conclusion. Thus, without credible access to the financial data I guess I am stuck worrying with Steve. Seems to me Utah is gone and the other shoe may or may not drop. The Fred Noonan School of Navigation.

I think the BigXII's Commish provided TV revenue info for a 10-team league. If they consider adding 2 teams to go back to their former 12-team league, it will change the entire scenario.
