Here is a google search that will give you a whole bunch of information about this from a lot of different sources. "percent of taxes paid by rich" You have changed the search question. My question was percent of income paid in taxes, not percent of taxes. Did you not notice? You end up with the same answer.

The assertion was that the higher incomes' federal income tax rates have been DRAMATICALLY reduced compared to 50 years ago versus lower/middle income rates. Tables were offered to prove it, and based on marginal tax rates that is true. I'm saying that because of the elimination of many deductions any reduction in the effective tax rates for higher incomes are not anything that could be fairly called DRAMATIC. While your article is an interesting one, it does not make any comparison between effective federal income tax rates among the quintiles today versus effective federal tax rates among them 50 years ago.

Will Jerry Brown be able to make real changes in the area of public employee pensions? Frankly, I think he may give it a serious try. How much success he will have is an open question. Here is a revealing look at how we got into the mess in the first place. reason.com/archives/2011/02/16/farewell-my-lovelyAzWm Three words - Prison Guards' Union. Unfortunately, the right refuses to recognize how toxic that union is. =Bob
