No, probably not. But in the hierarchy of pejorative name calling, I wonder where you would rank "a$$hole" vis a vis "wing-nut". You guys kill me. "A$$hole" = "Wing-Nut" but "Lefty", "Leftist", "Marxist", "Socialist", "Un-American", "Traitor" etc. are just fine. "kill"? I thought that word was a no-no. How's that new civility workin' out for you? Wanna see some stuff from Wisconsin?

Is this the kind of civility that William is asking for on this board? No, probably not. But in the hierarchy of pejorative name calling, I wonder where you would rank "a$$hole" vis a vis "wing-nut". Neither is particularly good, but one is a personal attack, the other one attacks the person's beliefs. Good people, or cool people - people you like, can have wacky beliefs. A-hole's are just not people you would describe as good or cool. Please keep that in mind. Personal attacks and insults are not acceptable under forum rules. Attack the point (if you feel the need), not the person.

Maybe we should have a list published reflecting "acceptable" versus "unacceptable" terms/words which can be used to insult someone. Mind you, I have no objection to any name anyone wishes to direct at me. Actually, I consider it a badge of honor... considering the sources.

>>>A-hole's are just not people you would describe as good or cool.<<<
Quite so.
And people who deliberately misrepresent facts, either by commission or, as in the example above, by omission, are not people who I would describe as "good" or "cool".
But fine. I'll go back and delete the A-word. I'll substitute "dishonest" or "dissembling".
Is that okay?

It seems to be even more accurately descriptive and more repugnant to most than A-Hole. Am I on to something?

They prefer to be called "progressives" now. Was a time when they called themselves "communists", "socialists", "new leftists", "liberals", "social justice activists".... ...but the current nom de guerre is "progressive". Since the "A" word is proscribed on here (my red zone indicator is growing!), I'll just call them "notso good" and "notso cool" people.

It is a rather benign word until you really think of all the vile traits that go into the makeup of a liberal. "Notso cool" is all so effective and easily understood.

What will it take for the GOP to beat Obama in'12?
A miracle.

What will it take for the GOP to beat Obama in'12? A miracle. Yoda out... That's going a bit too far. My feeling is that the GOP will find it tough to beat Obama in '12. That's more because of a "weak" field of candidates than Obama's strength. However, I can see the GOP controlling both houses of Congress. But let's face it; we are still a long way off and a lot of big things, both good and bad, can and probably will go down before 11-2012. AzWm

AzWm Typically, the President's party loses a lot of seats in a mid-term election year and gains most of them back during the presidential election year. So rather than losing control of both houses in 2012, the Dems can expect to gain several seats. The emphasis is on "typically", however. This economy is a wild card. Yoda out...

If I am a Born Again Liberal, does that mean then that I am a Born Again Asshole, too? When I was an ultra-right Conservative I felt more like an asshole than I do now. Being a born again Lib is soul cleansing. It is like Draino for a clogged up soul.

If you are a Born Again liberal, you would need a lot of cleansing to become just a Born Again A-hole. You can't be both!

If Sarah Palin or Jeb Bush is the GOP candidate then just book Obama for another 4 years I agree about Sarah. She would go down in flames ala Goldwater. Bush is different. I understand he is the smart brother. He speaks Spanish and that should help with the Hispanic vote. Besides, he is not a quitter.

When daddy pays for you to graduate they will graduate you with whatever distinction you want. Jeb helped his brother win the 2004 election too, a family that helps each other out, how sweet.
