So we do want New Mexico to beat BYU right? Or do we not because of conference RPI or something?
Let me know. My gut tells me to root against BYU now and forever.

The short-term goal is to win the MWC outright. Hard to get a 1 or 2 seed if we don't. Although it may hurt our ranking next week, it's never wrong to root against BYU. Would love to see them stumble in a game that we already won. If all goes well between now and then, that would make a 2/26 victory the game that gives us the outright MWC title.

Of course we want NM to beat Jimmer.

Yes, as mentioned before, if we want to get placed in the West Region (and we do!), then we need to be ahead of BYU on the S Curve (NCAA Seedings). A loss at NM and a win over Wyoming would also keep up ahead of BYU in the rankings.

Actually as much as we hate it, we should hope they win the rest of their games before we meet again. If we beat them we will replace them in whatever rank they attain. We have to make sure we don't lose another game between now and then as well.

We want BYU to have one more loss than the Aztecs. An 'L' at the Pit for BYU would be perfect.

Yes, of course we want New Mexico to beat BYU. Winning MWC regular season title is absolute #1 concern right now. Then MWC tourney. Then as many games as possible in NCAA tourney. The rest will take care of itself.

BYU already won @ UNLV and @ CSU. UNM would be their only "tough" road game left besides us.
So yes we need that loss if we're realistically looking for them to lose 2 games.

Sure as long as the games are played in Viejas no more Problow! I say that because "we" aren't the ones asking to continue the association.

Hell yes, Go Lobos.
Which would you prefer: a MWC title and a 3 seed in the tourney, or BYU winning the title and us getting a 2-seed?
I'll take the ring and the 3 seed.

Way I see it, rest of BY...er, Jimmer's non-SDSU games are a win-win situation. They win, helps our RPI/NCAA seed (especially when we beat them @sd & MWCT) and if they lose, we get to savor the Freudenschade, which we all know we are happy to trade for a small drop in our RPI.
Let's just enjoy the ride and look forward to watching the Aztecs whomp by 20 this Sat and not losing another game this season :-)

If we win the MWC title, we'll get a higher seed than BYU and we'll play in the West Regional. Even a loss to BYU in the MWC Championship game wouldn't likely change that.

The logic was there in my example, but not common sense. My point is: we'd be doing ourselves a disservice to just focus on RPI and SOS and ignore the conference title race. I want us to win the MWC title, and for that to happen, we (likely) need BYU to lose a game or 2. So RPI be damned, go Lobos.

Overall conference RPI is also better when the home team wins.

Craziness. We lose and move up in RPI from 4 to 3
