This from a since deleted post to the MWC board: "MWC presidents feel BSU carries that region good enough and some would prefer to not be in Utah. The Mtn. stays in Utah, regardless at the current subscription rate. Obviously, some sort of customer revolt would change that, but they don't feel that the average customer will even notice." It was posted by a Wyoming fan who is a long-timer and I believe to have contacts within their athletic department. As he also said, it still hasn't been decided that expansion is definitely going to happen but if it does, contrary to the speculation of some, the conference will not go beyond 12 and, to further quote the Poke fan, "either way, USU is f'd." Some say these message boards carry no weight. In this case at least, I really disagree. The vehemence with which Utah State has been opposed on the MWC board by fans of every other school in the conference can't possibly have been missed by the powers that be. So I have no doubt the Wyoming fan is correct that USU is in fact "f'd." Just who the two schools would be remains very unclear.

I wish USU the best, but I don't want them in SDSU's conference. Other than skiing and national parks I don't want anything to do with the state of Utah.

That's probably true since they were never "in."

They're trying to elbow their way in because of Comcast. As far as I'm concerned they're the most hated school in that state, replacing the one that's leaving.

Dear MWC, Conference Championship games don't work. Sincerely, The ACC Not to mention when a 1/3 of your money comes from BCs games, can you risk them taking on another loss?

If USU finds a way to weasel it's way into the MWC I'll be pissed.

If USU gets in then it shows that we are really a 2nd rate conference.

If USU gets in then it shows that we are really a 2nd rate conference. Yes. Agreed. Unfortunately, it's now apparent to me the Wyoming guy was talking out of his ass. Gotta admit my deep hatred for the idea of Utah State getting in precluded me from accurately using my usually pretty good rumor filter. So gotta say that since it's apparent no CUSA school is interested, if there's expansion by two rather than just one (and 11 members is pointless) . . .

Have Houston and SMU rejected invitations to the MWC? It's pretty much been known since TCU joined the Big East two months ago that Houston has been hoping to get an invitation too. Houston's hope is that Villanova will decide it isn't ready to move up to DIA in football and tell the Big East that in April, following which the Big East will offer Houston rather than UCF as the fallback. That's why IMO the MWC shouldn't make an expansion decision until June. However, it looks as though the presidents are bound and determined to renegotiate the TV deal immediately and so aren't going to wait for Houston. And it's apparent SMU won't leave CUSA without Houston. Sure looks to me like the MWC has looked at the street signs and is going to buy a lot at the corner of Pennywise and Pound Foolish. Mountain Goat Conference anyone?

I think the Big East will invite UCF over Houston if Villanova passes.
