It most definately is a violation, don't know that the NCAA would come down too hard on it. We had an issue at Ohio State with Cris Carter's dumb ass talking to a recruit (Seantrel Henderson) while on an official visit to Ohio State. Basically Henderson was down on the field walking around on his visit and Carter was down there since his son was on the team at the time. Granted it's just a little secondary violation that doesn't result in much (especially since we backed off on recruiting him anyway) but still. If someone has a link to the report about Hall visiting with him it would sure be helpful though

Buckeye: KUSI did a little piece the other night on the fact that Leon Hall was visiting his old haunts in Vista where he grew up.According to the report/interview,Hall claimed he wasn't there to sway McClure one way or another, but just to talk to him informally about the Michigan campus.Take that for what it's worth. It could be just a former Vista resident simply talking about the campus and nothing more.I don't know how one goes about proving it or disproving it?

Well Hall admitting he talked to McClure on camera might be pretty solid proof. You aren't allowed to just "talk to him informally" about anything in regards to Michigan lol

Just being an alumnus and talking to the kid isn't an infraction.

If you have ever given $$ to the university, even once, then you automatically become an agent of that university. I remember reading that from Boise States site a while back. That means if you joined the Alumni Association and paid $40, you are on the hook for life!!!. www.broncosports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=9900&ATCLID=610346"Only NCAA certified coaches and university staff members can be involved in the recruiting process. Boosters and other representatives of athletics interests are prohibited from making contact, (in person on or off campus, by phone, fax, or letter) with a prospective student-athlete for the purpose of encouraging participation in the BSU athletic programs. " "Impermissible Activities: * A booster may not have any contact with a prospective student-athlete. Contact includes phone calls, letters, and faxes. * A booster may not provide tickets, transportation, or room and board for a prospect, coach, or relative to visit the campus. * A booster may not entertain in any way or give gifts, benefits, and free or reduced services to any prospect, coach or relative. * A booster may not contact a prospect's coach, principal, or counselor in an attempt to evaluate the prospect." Now how much of that is NCAA and how much of that is BSU I do not know.

from the BSU site: Representatives of Athletics Interest You are a representative of athletics interest if you: 1. Participate in or have been a member of any booster or alumni groups 2. Make or have made a donation to any of the BSU athletic programs 3. Provide or have helped to arrange employment for student-athletes 4. Have been involved in promoting BSU athletics in any way 5. Are the parent or legal guardian of an enrolled student-athlete 6. Participated as a varsity athlete at BSUAccording to NCAA rules, once an individual has been identified as an institutional "representative of athletics interest" the individual retains that title for life. www.broncosports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=9900&ATCLID=610346

I tell you what - I have been on the fence about Hoke leaving. But if he is behind some of this sketchy crap, I will be forever pissed.

If the NCAA is placed on notice of an alleged recruiting violation they would have a duty to investigate. I suggest the notification be done via email so as to create a legal paper trail. If someone on this site could provide such an email address I am sure that many of us would be happy to accomodate ;D

KUSI has not posted that report online yet. From what I can tell this event was in December. We need to get a hold of it and a transcript, and establish a timeline or we have nothing.

Worth an attempt, but doubt the NCAA will bother investigating any reports that don't come from slightly more legitimate sources then people sending them emails about what they read in a newspaper article Probably true. If the complaint doesn't come from another head coach or athletic director, the priority of hearing or even reading the complaint is probably pretty low.
