Win- anything happen with VC's rb from last season? He is still not going anywhere for sure, but some small school back east like New Hampshire or maybe Cornell has offered. He turned down Air Force because he thought Cal Poly was going to offer. He is really not as impressive when you see him lift or do other things. He has no upper body development. Good kid, but not that hard of a worker. Hard to tell for sure, but I think this years RB will be better. I take that back, it was Cornell with a 3/4 grant offer but I hear he turned that down. What I say might not be 100% accurate.

My alma mater, THE La Quinta Blackhawks, open their season @ Valley Center this Friday! Go 'Hawks!
LQ's head coach, Dan Armstrong, is an SDSU alum. He has two CIF-SS championships at La Quinta (2001 and 2002) and quite a few of his kids have gone on to SDSU, including Jeff Webb and a freshman on SDSU's roster this season, Dontrell Onuoha.
Let's get it on!

He is at Southern Utah and only going to play Baseball.

The week before we kicked off at 117 for the JV game. VC Frosh got rolled by La Quinta. The kid had no time to throw and had little success. Armstrong has a super program over there and if the Freshman Team is any measure, they will be tough at the other levels as well. The QB that I am high on was hurt last week and hobbled around on one leg last night, but no matter how he would have done, La Quinta would have been just too much. They are really well coached, they are pretty big, and they are very tough physically. Valley Center was over matched. Nuts and Bolts is one of the Frosh coaches at La Quinta and I was able to visit with him for a few minutes. Still a fun trip.

LQ always runs the ball well. Without exception, every season. They don't pass as much as some past years but they have two good senior backs. The key is the line, they have I think 3 or 4 new starters and there is some concern if they can open some holes. www.highschoolsports.net/local/PalmSprings/article/20109080352Also from the Desert Sun: All you need: The Blackhawks will have to contend with Valley Center running back Travis Bernard, who gained 219 yards on 33 carries in the team's 29-14 victory over San Pasqual last week, and tight end and linebacker Stehly Reden, who has verbally committed to BYU. But La Quinta should have enough offensive firepower to keep up with the San Diego Section Division IV powerhouse.

Bernard had around 150 yds or so and scored the go ahead touchdown on a great run from about ten yards out. La Quinta had two running backs who were pretty impressive and one pretty good receiver. La Quinta and Armstrong have a real quality program. Good discipline and extremely well coached all around. They knew what to do at just about all times.

Make that 200 yds on 26 carries for Travis Bernard according to the paper. The two La Quinta RBs also were impressive. It was a very hard fought game and very fun to watch.

Gilster and Lay coach those kids up very well. I am also very impressed with La Quinta top to bottom in every aspect of their program. Armstrong has built a real quality program.

Youtube URL deleted per request of original author. WLRThis is Bernards runs vs La Quinta. Good, hard runner but man I could drive my truck through some of those holes! ;D Number 66 is committed to BYU, but 57 Kenny Thomas has not been talked about much in recruiting. When Thomas wants to play, he is as good as you will see on either side of the ball. I think there are questions about his grades. Another thing that I think is impressive is that La Quinta looks like a really solid football team that will do well. That makes Travis Bernard's runs that much more impressive in my view. The blockers get him to the second level, but he does the rest on his own.
