Based on this article Dutcher may want to take a page out of the Steve Fisher recruiting handbook and make a trip to recruit the dad after Dunlap is released from ND.

If he does get his release (it would be highly unusual for a school to *not* release someone upon request after a coaching change) then I would think SDSU would have a very decent chance at landing the young Mr. Dunlap.

Great footwork, good midrange shooter, good 3 point shooter. Needs to work on his handles, needs to work on finishing through contact.

Correct as he has said he uses his dad for assistance when making his decisions on a coach - so stability of a coach and being a player's coach could be key
Not sure about the rules on additional visits that will be allowed on his second go round

I think that Byrd will slot in for Bradley if anything... don't see Dunlap beating out Byrd at the 3. Butler, Parrish, Byrd, Saunders, LeDee as it stands right now, but I would expect that we will get a transfer guard and/or big man. Trammell & Johnson can still come back as well & would slot in the starting line-up. My understanding is both are 50-50. LeDee is also iffy to coming back, just like those 2. 6 years of college isn't for everyone. Ideal starting line-up: Trammell, Butler, Parrish, Johnson & LeDee Key Bench: Portal Big, Saunders, Byrd Plus 1 from the 3 FR - Dunlap most likely Future: Heide, Saunders, Byrd, Dunlap, Davis Big ?: Shay If Keshad & LeDee don't come back, it's going to be an interesting off-season. We currently have talent, but it's YOUNG talent. I think Dutch would prefer having FR/SO in reserve roles & not relying on them to carry us in Nov/Dec. I don't want Trammel eating up a scholarship just like I didn't want stand around and dribble Pulliam to come back previously. I want guards that can look over their neighbor's 6' fence without having to stand on their tip toes or a ladder.

We are going to add transfers for sure, ones that can shoot. Byrd/saunders aren’t going to start

Do not want to hijack the post from Brady Dunlap
but have a Q about DT - and the transfer rules - DT is a senior this season - He can come back to college for his Super Senior Year - but has used up his No sit transfer season - So unless he is a Grad transfer - can he still transfer and not have to sit a season
Aztecs did have the opportunity to sign Lucas - who I believe wanted to think more about his choices to transfer to - Rudi Williams think the same . But the Aztec Coaches jumped on a plane to listen to DT's thoughts on SDSU - then signed him . One factor was that DT was All Conference Defense in his G5 conference . Or were the Coaches afraid they were not going to get any guard .
Aztecs do lose at least 4 super Seniors - Nathan , AG , Adam , and Matt - have 2 HS recruits coming in . Other returning players are still moving parts as mentioned

When Oh When will we ever get a Big man who can score? For the last 8 years we had Spenser and Mensah who were good defensively but were not scorers. Seems like all the good teams we play have a big who can score.

As you mentioned Aztecs have had difficulty getting a 5 that can truly be an offensive threat down low - Have liked to get a 5 that can be considered one of the best defenders .
there have been some transfers - Yanni and Malcolm T but it seems that a scoring 5 does not think SDSU is the place to attend if they want to be trained for the NBA
Getting high quality 5's is not easy - especially when a school does not have the reputation of getting their 5's into the NBA
Maybe we start a thread about this

I think Saunders is going to be a very good player for us, and actually looks like he could be a capable scorer. I'm on board with the incoming freshman, Hiede also... only based on what i've seen on film though

Bringing this thread back on topic, Don’t know this guy or how credible he is, but he has SDSU as current front runner.

Assuming he likes to play defense, he's certainly a very strong fit for SDSU... Bringing this thread back on topic, Don’t know this guy or how credible he is, but he has SDSU as current front runner.

Is it time to lower the defense expectations of a recruit - Aztecs need talented player period and he seems to fit what the Aztecs need

Is it time to lower the defense expectations of a recruit - Aztecs need talented player period and he seems to fit what the Aztecs need I agree, it's not like we are playing lock down defense this year anyway. But this guy seems to be in the same mold as Miles Heide, do we need both?

Correct from what we have heard Heide is more of a 5 maybe close to 6'9" and has been able to play with his back to the basket as needed - does bring up the Q what has the progress been with "Shay ' Johnson a red shirt freshman also about 6'9"
Brady is 6'7" from his clippings seems to be more of a 3 as he is noted for his shooting ability - do not know if he also could be a 2 ?
As Dutcher has said team can not have enough talent
Big problem as always is seeing if he chooses the Aztecs
