How much did it cost us to rid ourselves of that albatross/blind squirrel?

How much did it cost us to rid ourselves of that albatross/blind squirrel? Significant portion. Don't know the exact amount yet. Voit is going to Washington in place of Hosmer.

Liked Voit's HRs but they came few and far between amidst all those Ks. With Myers back, I hope Mazara does some DHing and I assume Tatis will do some also till he gets in game shape. I would even put Kim there since he's been hitting over .300 for quite a while now.

I don't feel bad much for millionaires, but I feel semi bad for Voit. After playing his career for competitive STL, NY, and SDP teams --- now he ends up on a basement dwelling Washington franchise with nothing to play for. Ugh!

He got to play for three contending teams in three good baseball cities. If he would have hit more, he would still be here.

Didn't want to give him up, but they had to make the money work with a first baseman for Bell.

I don't mind losing both Hosmer and Voit. Mazara, Tatis, Alfara, Machado, Myers and even Kim can DH while Bell, Cronenworth and Myers can play 1st. Those are much better options for those two positions.

Interesting that they eschewed the City Connect costumes.

While I wish they had more depth, having 8 or 9 cylinders running strong most days will certainly be better than the 2 or 3 they've had for the past few months. Should be an interesting next two months for everyone.

But the next level/backups … Starters have gotta stay healthy.

You'll have positional versatility in Kim, Drury, Cronenworth, Myers and Nola. Now, if they lose a top guy? Sure, it'll hurt. But that's really good depth and there's some capable guys able to fill in on short-term ranges.

I mean he's a starter on most teams, worth 3 WAR so far this year.

Kim in particular has been doing a really good job at SS this year. I mean he's a starter on most teams, worth 3 WAR so far this year. Agreed - he and Profar have been the unsung heroes so far this season. Kim needs to remain in the lineup at SS. That's a given. Don't know what that means for Junior, maybe he comes back in CF for some games and some at SS and mostly just DHs to keep him from getting hurt. He's missed all of Baseball 2022 except for hanging out with the team and doing some light practice, and while it might not take all kinds of time to come back to 100%, there's no need to see him injured again because he overextended himself. And next season he can compete with Kim for the SS job. I really think it's hard to take that position away from Kim at this point. He's done a commendable job. If he's not in the running for Gold Glove, he should be. Junior makes a splash at that position, for sure, but Kim nails it down. And if he continues to hit as well as he has the past month, there's no good reason to turn him out of the lineup except as needed for a break.
