Funny how there isn't a positive post when he saves the game like he did last night. Or how over the past week (5 games) he's hitting .300+ with an OPS of .889. I hope he proves me wrong, and I'm ecstatic that he drilled one out last night to tie it up, but his horrible inconsistency is right in our faces. Come on Luke, get on a roll. We need you!!!

Voit gets the right call on that one. HR.

He's been really good since coming off the IL. The strikeouts will always be part of it, but he's made more consistent and better contact since coming back.

I'm happy that Voit is hitting better, but he still strikes out waaay too often. Strike outs do zero for you, and the team. Put the ball in play as much as possible to move a runner over, and let the defense make a play on it.

Luke Voit and Dinelson Lamet share one interesting connection. They were both top 10 finishers in MVP voting in 2020.
Perhaps a much shorter season - without all those pesky fans - would be a better situation for both of them.
They're both players with plenty of potential, but their injuries and just their struggles to be consistent hasn't been kind to either of them since.

Yep, by a variety of players.

You would think his strikeout percentage would drop below 30%, as going into this season, his K-rate was 27%.

He's missed so much time that getting timing down against live pitching requires patience and adjustments. I don't get overly bothered by the strikeouts if he's still drawing walks and hitting for power.

Yeah, I saw that as well. He's a feast or famine guy. Mainly famine, dead weight on your team.

He's been an above average hitter every year of his career, outside of his rookie year. What's above average, in your eyes? The only stat that matters here is wRC+. Run creation, weighted for ballpark factors, gives you a straight and concise answer. The baseline is 100, so anything above is above average and anything below is below average. Voit was a 102 wRC+ last year and has cleared that number every year. Injuries have hurt his career. Glad he's out of Washington, but Milwaukee is a cultural dumpster fire right now.

Glad he's out of Washington, but Milwaukee is a cultural dumpster fire right now. That's a VERY low bar. If that's the bar set, then that's nothing to brag about. His stats were horrible last year. The stat you're talking about is an overall MLB stat. There's some really bad offensive players in the MLB.

He was an integral part of the Yankee offense until he got hurt maybe trying to compensate, first for the knee, then the lats, etc. etc. Not sure how that all affected him here, unless he was still over-compensating for injuries. Playing at Petco certainly didn't help him. Whether that's the case or not, I hope he plays well enough this spring to make the Brew Crew out of Spring Training. I think after what he's been through over the past 5 years or so - the highs, lows, moves, etc. to end up assigned to a minor league team to start the season would just be another let down. Hope he has a little bit of luck left.
