When you look at it, you would think SDSU should be at the top of many Transfer Portal options for the Non-NFL types that are being real with their future. This University has many things going for it right now, New Stadium, Winning tradition, Great academics, Outstanding weather, Nice campus, Large opportunity for post grad employment/internships (SolCal), and did I mention the weather. San Diego State University would not be a bad way to spend your last couple years of football, free education and a nice campus to finish up your lower grad or start and or finish up an advanced degree. What a nice way to start your real life in the working world. I think we're really only interested in kids that want to go to the NFL and are looking for a program and fit that will help them make that dream happen. We aren't an Ivey League school. I would say most (if not all) of the guys that have come out of SDSU and have been drafted into the NFL or have been offered free agent contracts have walked out of this University with a Degree in their pocket upon leaving. This tells me that these guys are being told the truth, that football is a risky business and you better have back up plans. I can see high school kids coming out of their school as the Big Man on Campus thinking they are on the fast track to the NFL. Then they run up against other guys the same size and strength day after day, game after game and then they get a better understanding of what D1 football is all about. This is when they start to look around and realize "Shyt just got REAL" and I better have something as a back up. I think the better G5 programs are really doing a better job of exposing these athletes to the real world post football these days.

I think the better G5 programs are really doing a better job of exposing these athletes to the real world post football these days. Well you said yourself, their degree is a backup plan. If one of our coaches shows up at a recruit's house for a visit and the kid says, "y'know, I'm really just here to get a degree and I'm not interested in the NFL," then I don't think our coaching staff will be very interested in that prospect. Every kid that comes to our program should express a desire to get to the NFL, because it speaks to their commitment to football. It's like someone showing up for a job interview and saying they are really only interested in being a mediocre employee. About the only schools in a position to take recruits who are "just interested in degrees" are the Ivy League schools who understand that their football programs suck and they are desperate for talent. They are willing to take a talented recruit who doesn't have plans to go to the NFL and just wants the prestigious degree. Case in point, Cooper Barkate from Mater Dei.

What is the rule for how many players you can have on scholarship and the extra Covid Year ? Starting in the fall, students can play an extra year… But the team will go back to a firm 85 scholarship and 105 total team limit.

So it does not matter if you are coming back to the same school or transfer for the 85 scholarship players
Did notice 3 players are leaving Nevada - any word if they also follow their coach to CSU ?
Did see QB Rattler will transfer to UCLA

Check out some of the game film on this guy and you notice that his game looks almost identical to Haskell, with the exception of he has about 10-20 pounds on Haskell. The same "interesting arm angle" release, "unorthodox" foot work and "freakish" athletic abilities, boy would it be interesting to two such beasts on the same team at the same position at the same time maybe even on the field at the same time. Seriously this guy looks just like Haskell but playing at the JC level worth looking up, not sure this team needs him but interesting to look at what we could be in for next year.

Just want us to have options at the QB position. If Haskell is the guy great! But if he’s not, we need talent in the QB pool to pull from.

Little doubt that the Aztecs could need an experienced QB ? But what QB has the Aztecs on their list .?
Also what are opinions about Mayden ?

Agree amd great questions… Mayden, clearly has arm strength, can run, is allusive and is a big strong guy. He seemed to understand the offense and should be a real competitor for next year. Haskell seems strong… The kid from Norco feel more like Baker than Haskell, but I could be wrong. State should actively be recruiting all good QBs in the portal, as long as they are a cultural fit for the program. Will any be interested in the Aztecs, who knows…

Mayden and Haskell are both very athletic guys . Do hope that the coaches or mentors that the Aztecs could use from Winter Break through next fall are so important for these 2 QB's and the Aztec Offense heading into next season . No excuses from the OC or HC find some high quality people to assist in their development
Also can you Pin the Football Transfer Portal to replace the Grad Transfer Post - ?
