Wouldn't be opposed to a Mater Dei pipeline.

For his size, to have those offers he must be one heck of a ball player. I’m happy to have him come aboard!

They go 3-8 and get let go. This kid has TONS of heart and determination and wants to see the field as a freshman while playing in a defense that swarms and destroys. Welcome Josh Hunter!!!

I think the MD college transfer reputation is mostly in basketball, which I don't think SDSU has been hit with either - but a lot of other schools have.

I do not have a list of the guys who have played at MD of OC then come to SDSU - had thought most chose P5 schools . Do hope that he does come here and make a solid contribution . Did Not say you only look at a player's height but do think it would be helpful if he was able to grow a couple inches . Do agree that heart and the ability to play football are more important then size .

Kid would be a national recruit if he was 2" taller. I think he's the kind of Tariq Thompson/Damontae Kazee kind of guy that will be a STUD for us.

Josh looks like he has good instincts. He flashes to the ball and wraps up his tackles. Good technique. It is easy to see how his game from HS translates to the aggressive 335 defense of the Aztecs. He'll fit right in and contribute to our dominating defense.
Welcome to the Mesa Josh! You'll be a star here!
Go Aztecs!

Does he project to be a DB - Aztecs do seem willing to play younger guys at this position if they show they cover the WR's

In the Aztecs 3-3-5 defense - are the DB's mostly on their own when covering WR's or do they get some assistance from the safeties . ? Or does it depend on the defense that is being called on each play ?

24/7 recruiting has the Aztecs average recruit rating higher than Boise State's. Usually there is a significant Gap in the wrong direction. Maybe the Aztecs are taking advantage of the stadium opening next season.

Or does it depend on the defense that is being called on each play ? The Aztecs play a variety of coverages, which is why the defense is so successful… the majority of plays will find the following coverages. * Cover Two with two deep safeties and man under * Cover Four with the CBs showing man, but instead sharing deep duties with the safeties, basically the field is into quarters with three to five guys underneath depending on the rush package. * Cover Six which is Cover Two on one side of the field and Cover Four on the other side of the field. * Single High with one safety, everyone else in man and usually a five man rush There are some other things the Aztecs run, but those coverages account for a lot of the plays.

Mahasin is the lone 4* of this class, but if Hunter was 6'1" he'd have offers from the entire PAC12.
