Then you're not seeing the big picture. And that kinda matters...as Hosmer has an awful at-bat with the bases loaded. Regression is an awful thing. Current form is cool, but a cursory glance will tell you that he's not going to hit .300 for any meaningful stretch of time. The approach is horrendous. I absolutely see the big picture. I happen to be focusing on the exact present time. Is that ok with you? Also, should I chime in every time he has a good at bat? Sheesh If you are indeed focusing on the big picture, you'd know this stretch of BABIP fueled luck isn't going to last...and there's absolutely no need for him on a roster of a championship team. He doesn't bring anything to the table we don't have. It's not about a random good AB, it's about approach, consistency and maybe most importantly...actual effort.

We're all doomed attitude!!! You can have that. I choose to ride with his current production and hope it continues. You really sound like someone who's bummed when he does well, and happy when he doesn't come thru like he didn't with the bases loaded in his first at bat. Not good, and not a real fan attitude. Shake yourself.

I would say the same thing for other players if they were underperforming over a very, very long period of time. You can be critical, with extensive reasoning...and it's absolutely fine.

If you're being honest, you seem to have it out for Hosmer. Example, you bringing out the fact that he didn't have a good at bat with the bases loaded, but rarely anything positive about him. He's hitting very well of late. Let's hope he stays consistent in this direction.

You seem to not have the capability of seeing short term. Let's hope Hosmer and Myers tear it up the rest of the season. You only say that you highly doubt they will. To each his own.

He's one of the worst players in the National League. By any statistical measure. That's just a reality. I don't obsess over minutae and small sample sizes when we have three plus years of data that says he is just not good. And his quotes about just accepting that he's fine with where he is are cancerous and indifferent to a championship roster. That's his first home run in nearly a month and his fourth home run since early April.

Nice Home Run Eric. Keep that stroke going. Bases loaded in the first? Ground out to end the inning. Later in the game? Lead off single in the 4th. Lead off HR in the 6th. If he gets either one of those in the first, it could well have been a different game. Hosmer is doo-doo.

I'm glad he's hitting the ball again, and finding holes. I'll take the 2-4 and a homer any day, and also the way he's been hitting lately.

I don't have an issue with Kim/Profar giving him a rest now & then, especially against tougher lefties, but until he reverts back to June Hosmer I'm happy with him in the line-up. Re: the bases loaded situation last night, he has a 1.167 OPS with the bases loaded on the season; he's also hitting .315/.366/.489 (.856 OPS) with RISP on the season. More often than not he's dialed in when it really matters.

Joey Gallo has been on an absolute HEATER lately. I think he has 10 jacks just in the last two weeks, and a 1.000 OPS.
I will be curious to see if a bad, rebuilding TX teams deals him. What might it cost Preller? Let's assume CJ Abrams and Hassell are untouchable.
Gore, Campusano, and ______ ?
(If they desire Gore. Who knows)
Thoughts?

The good & bad with Gallo is he has a team-friendly contract. Good in that he's under control beyond this year for a reasonable amount, but the bad being that makes him considerably more expensive. Add to that what they were asking for Lynn last year & I think the value of what we'd have to give up wouldn't match the incremental gain we'd see in him, especially since he wouldn't be an every day player. I find it more realistic we'd get a 3-month rental at a lower cost.

He tends to come thru in those moments, and I think that gets overlooked by some on here. That's obviously a VERY important stat.
