what don't you get about that the guy has gone off the rails and is trying to burn it down on his way out? He's fuggin dangerous dude. Trump is most definitely not dangerous. At this point he's completely powerless. Never in the history of lame ducks has there ever been a lamer duck than Trump is now. Google is not powerless. Twitter is not powerless. Apple is not powerless. Facebook is not powerless. With as impressionable as the human animal is, those giants now effectively run things and neither you or I get a say in what they do. They are unconstrained by social contracts such as the US Constitution or Bill of Rights, and are now above the law. The tech giants silenced a sitting US President. There is no elected official who wants to keep their job who can pose a serious threat to them. They can erase any elected official they want and in this country elected officials are in charge of enforcement of the laws.

Well....I can't yell fire in a theater either... I also can't do that but that makes you and I second class citizens because the tech giants and media can yell fire in a theater. Not only can they cause panics to lead to people being hurt, but they've found it is quite profitable to do so. The change that just happened this week is that now the tech giants can silence anyone seeing a real fire from trying to warn others in the theater.

The wacko people like the ones who broke into the Capitol building really feel like America is going to go into the sh#tter once Biden gets in. They can't let it play out, and see how his administration performs before they go nuts. Too many unstable people out there. It has nothing to do with Biden. It could be literally anyone else, the expectations would be the same. It's all about galvanizing the Trump base. Clarence Thomas' wife is now implicated. That's a sitting SCOTUS justice. Multiple government officials from different states openly involved. These people don't care about who the opposing candidate is, it's not about reason and logic. It's extremism on the behalf of Donald Trump. There's a thread on Parler going now that is openly talking about murdering journalists. Yes, I know it could have been anybody, not just Biden. I mentioned him, because that's who it happens to be.

There is no debate here. The facts speak for themselves.
Trump and his lackeys WEEKS AGO called for a massive rally on the same day that the Electoral College votes were to be certified in Congress.
Online on platforms like Parler people were calling for the, "Protestors," to bring weapons and be ready to fight.
Giuliani - Trumps lackeyest of lackeys - told the massive crowd that it was, "Trial by combat." Trump told them to, "Fight," and to, "Be strong," and then told them to march down to the Capitol.
Trump made sure the National Guard was NOT at the Capitol, and, amazingly enough, there was a a light Police/Security force there at that time. Trump declined to send in the National Guard once it became clear that these, "Protestors," had actually become insurrectionists.
That is a coup attempt. With ALL of Congress and the Senate there, with the VP there - the #1, #2, and #3 people in line of succession were there. THAT IS NO COINCIDENCE. Trump knew that. This was his best chance to overturn a VALID election.
Anyone who excuses Trump at this point sides with sedition and insurrection and supports a coup. Fact.

This was his best chance to overturn a VALID election. I have no idea what sources you are reading, but this wasn't a coup. It is missing 2 critical ingredients. The first thing was there was no one being overthrown. Trump was already President. The rioters obviously weren't there to overthrow the elected President because the elected President was Trump. You could label the rioters actions as sedition because they were interfering with the functioning of government but interfering with the certification of the electoral votes isn't a coup because no leader is being deposed and a 2-week-in-the-future coup isn't a thing. The second required aspect is the illegal complicity of the military or portion of the state in the overthrow effort. Congressmen objecting to certification doesn't count because it isn't illegal. The National Guard not being at the Capitol doesn't count because it isn't illegal. The rioters don't count because while their actions were illegal, the rioters were not part of the state. I get your strong loathing of Trump's actions but you do the seriousness of your argument disservice by using terms that are obviously wrong.

One of Trump's own National Security Advisors has now stated, for the record, that this most definitely WAS a coup attempt.
Trump is supposed to be out of office in 11 days. Had this coup succeeded he would have remained President indefinitely (since Congress and the Senate would be gone, with the election results still uncertified - that was the goal).
ABSOLUTELY A COUP ATTEMPT.

wow. What a f****** world we live in. I've been home sick with covid all week, got to watch the coup attempt on my computer while I was bedridden. I think we're likely going to find out that Trump is indeed a Russian asset. That those Blackwater murderers he just pardoned were involved. And all his talk about bringing back firing squads was for this exact reason.
I hate to say it, but I feel this is just the beginning.

This is spot on. Very moving, actually... thanks for posting! I wish I couldn't relate to the generation that Arnold was talking about. My father immigrated to the US from Germany. He was from the Ww2 era. Although he later worked for the US military, he experienced things in Germany that hurt his soul. Towards the end of his life, he drank heavily. Unfortunately, he could never escape the deamons (he never talked about) and died at 39 years of age.

People in that part of Europe had a lot of stories like yours, or like Arnold's. The scary thing is just how ignorant of those events the people who attempted to overthrow Congress are. They have no idea what they were trying to plunge this country into. And excusing Trump is just enabling the next attempt, and rationalizing something heinous.

This is spot on. Very moving, actually... It is moving. It has a beloved figure conveying a heartfelt story of long ago with 2 cameras, stage lighting, and a musical score to add weight to the words. The slick production value totally distracts from the ridiculous parallel he drew. In the day after the Capitol Riot, Chuck Schumer likened the riot to the attack on Pearl Harbor where over 2,000 Americans were killed and America declared a war to turn guns on those responsible. Arnold just said "Hold my beer, Chuck". The Kristallnacht was the event where roughly 300 synagogues were burned, 7,000 Jewish-own businesses were destroyed, and 30,000 Jews were rounded up in to concentration camps. That is what Arnold said had just now happened here at the US Capitol building.

It’s at the 18 second mark if you want to check for yourself. “I’m very aware of the Kristallnacht, or the Night of Broken Glass. It was a night of rampage against the Jews carried out in 1938 by the Nazi equivalent of the Proud Boys. Wednesday was the [Kristallnacht] right here in the United States”. He went on to talk of how his father used to get drunk, beat him, and scare his wife. He said that was just life because his neighbor’s did the same, and the neighbors on the others side too, but none of them could be blamed because of the Kristallnacht which is exactly like the Capitol Riot. Now all children here in America will have tears rolling down their bruised and bloody faces as their terrorized Mothers comfort them after the nightly beating because all previously good fathers throughout the land were transformed by the mental scars inflicted by the Capitol Riot. The celebrity. The music. The production. This is propaganda. I know we have political differences but I can’t believe you guys are eating this up. Nothing about it is real.

The celebrity. The music. The production. This is propaganda. I know we have political differences but I can’t believe you guys are eating this up. Nothing about it is real. I interpreted it entirely differently. Kristallnacht was purging of Jewish businesses and the rounding up of Jewish citizens in the street of occupied (today) Poland. The broken glass and shattering of windows in the Capitol is the parallel I drew, as well as the attack on our way of life. Is there hyperbole? Sure. But I'll wait for you to see what the other side is doing at the same time, which is far more dangerous. The virtuous GOP wants us to just move on and pretend like nothing happened, in the interest of protecting their own. Traitorous, vile, cowardly individuals who set up vicious double standards like Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley. Mo Brooks didn't mind falsely and publicly blaming Antifa with so-called nonexistent evidence. It's disgusting. The greater takeaway is patriotism involves standing for your country, not the president of it. And these cowardly insurrectionists aren't patriots, they are criminals.
