I thought that was Billy White ? As did I, maybe I just didn’t read the psot correctly. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I would hope my elderly brain would remember a Brian Carwell windmill dunk against Gonzaga. My elderly brain would have remembered a Brian Carlwell windmill dunk versus St. Katherine's!!

Yeah, I know he didn't play in the last 20 years, but the Long Ranger, Kim Goetz will always have a place on my favorites list; and so I mention him here. Why? Because I can. RIP Kim.

OK, gonna get a lot of hate mail for this....however. I think J. Franklin transfers after one year with Dutch. On this team he could not get away with the technicals and "antics". For example, the pass to self off backboard was for 2 reasons.. draw attention to self. and show up opposition. I think Dutch pulls a player if he does it this year. The last year of J. Frank was unbearable. Watch J. Frank take the shot clock down to 3, then fire a 26% three or drive 1 on 4. You could say, but he had nobody else who could score! Notice Tapley did not get a high volume of shots that year. OK. fire away. If I was making a list of least favorites he would be top of list. Not only for the items you list but I also attribute our Leonard team ncaa tournament loss to him. It does not mean he was not skilled (but he could not go left which is amazing that a player that good could not go left). Wow you must not remember that sweet 16 game. Jamaal just made a huge putback to put us up by about 4, and as he was pumped up walking back to the bench Kemba walked in his path while he wasn’t looking and then wildly flopped. Refs called a T and Jamaal had no idea what he had done.

An out of bounds ball thrown into an opponents face. A middle finger to a fan. Led the league in technical fouls. He was voted the Mountain West’s most-hated player of all time. That is quite a list and is only a partial list. The Kimble hit; Jamal lowered his shoulder. Refs got the call against Franklin correct and I believe it was before the flop rule so offsetting technicals was not an option. I believe flops are bush, but they occur and players need to be cognizant of the reality.

I don't agree that Jamaal had no idea what he did; regardless, that foul still stings today because that team had real good chance to advance to the Final Four. BTW: Kemba definitely flopped, no doubt, but JF needed to be smarter and not walked into his path/shoulder like that which allowed Kemba to pull out that flop. Jamaal T or Kemba Flop?

Kawhi had a costly technical fouls earlier in the first half which really hurt The Aztecs. JF came in and talked the trash and gave it back to them, If Fisher keeps JF in the game we win it, that’s the way the momentum was headed until benching JF, maybe should have told him to calm down and then turned him and KL loose on the huskies?

Just a savvy move by a veteran understanding the situation and taking advantage of a freshman. JF knew what he was doing and got caught. Previous and future antics by JF would show that was no accident. Regardless, I hated it then and hate it even more now. That team was so special and it should have been our Final Four year. Like many things, the “what if” will always be there.

I believe flops are bush, but they occur and players need to be cognizant of the reality. He should have been aware of a dead ball flop as a freshman making the biggest bucket of his life? How often have you seen one of those? Kemba and Jamaal both searched for contact at the last moment on the sidelines as they crossed paths and kemba flailed wildly. Normally that wouldnt even been a noticeable event. It was an affront to the game. Jamaal can be criticized for plenty of his antics but I think you’re jaded because of his personality in general. It’s nuts to put blame on him there specifically. Jamaal leaned into the shoulder as he noticed Kemba getting in his path but it should not have been a technical foul. Kemba was seeking contact. His being savvy isn’t really the point because it was a Bush league thing to do.

Still upset that Carlwell didn't get that hardship year! I just read the whole thread to see if Carlwell was mentioned. He attempted to stay in college forever which immediately gets him points. He always seemed to be having more fun than everyone else.

In violation of the 20 year rule I nominate Al Skalecky. He averaged a double-double. Almost 14 rebounds a game.

If you were to ask me to name a player back from when I was a student at San Diego State (1963-1967) Al would be the first name to come to mind. Certainly one of my all time favorites as well.

Anyone old enough to remember Aerick Sanders ? Definitely. My first year at State was Fisher's first year as coach. It's amazing how much the program has grown since then. One of my favorite players from those days was Al Faux.

Arop, because his abilities mixed with his heart and unselfishness completely exemplify everything about this program. Before him, either X-man or Billy White. Before them, John Sharper, And before him, Michael Cage.
