I dunno but Joel really seems to have digressed a bit. I sure hope he can develop more in the off season. he is trying a bit to hard to make a play. despite all this, he is putting himself in position to make plays. his time will come. As with all players, time on the court is the only remedy to overcoming deficiencies. I so strongly believe in this coaching staff in how they recruit and how they bring players along, and I think that applies to Joel as well. It's good to see that he's getting minutes, even if it's under duress, because he will only get better at his craft.

But we've seen plenty of cases where some guys just don't have the skills or the ability to elevate their game, even with the best coaching. Right now Joel is a foul machine and he doesn't bring a whole lot to the table when he's on the court. Can he get better? Will he get better? I sure hope so. I'd love to see him be an asset on the court rather than the liability he is right now.

think we will need AG as the season moves on - defense - rebounding and even ability to make some FT's - do want him healthy so - when he is ready is best .
As we saw last night foul troubles for Yanni and even Matt can change our play
Would be nice if Joel , Nolan or even Keshad could make additional contributions - especially on defense and the boards - just play within their talents - trying to develop their skills has not been
Also remember Nevada as they had to rely on a small number of players last couple of years and it hurt them - end of the season
In addition MW T - is 3 games in 3 days - yes we play a team in the first game that will have played the day before - then play most likely #4 team that has not -
Do need AG and Nathan is still a question as to his return - so for now If Nathan returns would be great but do not count on it .

correct expected to start practice this week - team had Sunday off - watched film on Monday and 30 minutes of light shooting . Tuesday full practice - Wednesday off - Thursday and Friday practice before flying to Denver and then Bus to AFA- ( also guys practice on their own at the JAM center)
Per Dutcher - Shocked if AG did not practice this week and think he should be ready to play against AFA - if he all things stay positive for him . He has missed 10 games this season between the various injuries.

I think having Arop back will be important if Mitchell gets into foul trouble...he doesn't back up Wetzel at the 5 though so we are still in trouble if Yanni gets in foul trouble. He will help on rebounds when he's in.

AG does primarily play the 4 , but against teams that do not have a strong 5 - Dutcher has tried him at the 5 but would be nice to get some development from Nolan , Joel there .
Also some from Keshad at the 4 but with Yanni in the game at the 5
Is time for the reserves who play up front to show how they can contribute - especially on defense and rebounding . Plus just not turning the ball over and hitting FT's .

AG has practiced all week but is still game time decision
Dutcher does expect him to play - could be very valuable guarding AFA's Swan or Scottie

AG played 5 minutes no rebounds or points - have not heard how he is feeling after playing in his first game in a while
Nolan played 7.5 minutes 4 rebounds and 3 points - -

AG is still not 100% but wants/expects to play tonight
Per Dutcher when he is 100% he is one of the better players in the conference
Article in 1/11 UT - AG also was sidelined his sophomore year of HS with a fractured tibia

I hope they really manage his minutes...do not want him to suffer a set back again.

I forgot what a bad-ass he is on the court. He's unafraid and doesn't back down from anyone.

When AG and Mitchell are on the court together we have a very physical team.

I loved that test of manhood he won vs the Lobo too. Dude is our enforcer Yeah, but not when the guy has missed three to four weeks with shoulder injury. Need to keep him healthy and win the war, not just one battle

He’s a strong dude He did play for almost six and a half minutes last night. He scored 2, got 4 RB's, an assist, and 1 block shot. So, overall not too bad, and he looked like the old Arop on the court. He will help us considerably down the road as he gets more time on the court!

Those don't show up in any stats, do they?
