In reading the article . AG said he is fine , and wants to play , but would guess Dutcher needs to get official clearance from the medical staff . There was no practice Wednesday so will be interesting to hear what if any information comes out of practice in the next few days. You can also figure that opposing teams are going to really make extra effort to get Yanni in foul trouble . UNLV does have a physical guy at the 5 that averages 9 points and 9 rebounds . Plus others with size . Also important that Matt stay out of foul trouble . If AG does play - you can also guess that teams will also be physical with him . This is great opportunity for the other guys up front to contribute & get the PT - Nolan , Joel , Keshan . Need the guys to focus on the things the team needs most defense , rebounding , passing , avoiding TO's setting screens and making FT's . Not exactly the glory things but what the team really needs and can make them really feel they are contributing . At luncheon today Dutcher said he won't practice for 2 days and will be checking with doctors before playing and AG did say he was fine. Also said he hope's to have NM back before end of season, so maybe a little hope? Have to say Dutcher is way more gregarious, upbeat and at ease than I thought he would be. 20-0 might have something to do with it? Yeah, but he is also coaching what appears to be some great kids and that has to be enjoyable seeing them succeed and support each other.

"aztecfred", when your team is 20-0 there is not much of anything that should be bothering you right now! I know I would be estatic, and although you know that you need to keep the team practicing and playing well it is only little tweaks and fine tuning right now not major changes in anything!

Been saying that for the longest time, why do they always leave those fouls on the bench. Put those guys out their if nothing else to get experience and mix it up a bit(maybe a little more physical). No reason to wear out the starters when they are not needed. Giving up points is not the greatest strategy they need to get some playing time some how because they are going to be needed down the stretch and hopefully into MM.

they need to get some playing time some how because they are going to be needed down the stretch and hopefully into MM. They need to earn playing time. That starts in practice, it extends into games. Their (Joel/Nolan/Keshad) most recent game performances have not been encouraging.

Their (Joel/Nolan/Keshad) most recent game performances have not been encouraging. At some point they have to rip the "bandage off" and find out what they have and how they perform with actual game time experience. "If you don't know how are you ever going to find out" Basically all I am saying is that they need to get a little more playing time because they are going to be needed sooner then later.

Their (Joel/Nolan/Keshad) most recent game performances have not been encouraging. Joel Mensah played a great game right after Nate Mensah got hurt, but I think he hurt his back soon after and has not been effective lately. SDSU needs him to step up his game. They are going to need defense and rebounding. Also, Joel is a better offensive player than Nate is right now. But you are correct. You earn PT in practice. I have seen other players have good games and Dutcher doesn't give them more playing time. I am assuming that is due to their play in practice.

Joel seems to block at least one shot every time he plays more than a few minutes. NN gets more time I think because he's more of a load inside. NN was OK today but always seems a step slow, at least in this year's offense.

He is not a good rebounder, but he is a really good shot blocker, the best on the team by a significant margin and has the best eFG% on the team... I would love for Dutch and Co to give him more minutes over the next five games to see if he can improve the rebounding because if he can he can be valuable in the postseason...

Tweaking his back a few games ago probably set him back in practice time. It's possible he's got to work his way back into shape a bit.

would hope that AG is healthy enough to play soon . He is needed - Need the rebounding and defense plus give some rest to Matt at the 4
As is the development of some of the other guys that could give valuable minutes at the 5 for Yanni
Coaches will need to be able to evaluate who can help at the 5 and 4 - there is PT for guys that can help on defense and rebounding .

Per 1/29 UT AG did travel to NM . But is game time decision for being able to play I would think it may also depend on how the game starts. If we get a lead on them and NM starts to wilt early, dutcher may hold off on playing him until Utah State.

Team is starting to gel. In spite of their rocky start in conference, they're still the most dangerous opponent left on our schedule.

In spite of their rocky start in conference, they're still the most dangerous opponent left on our schedule. And Queta was fine in that game. 9 and 9. It was other guys who struggled mightily. Bean was a total non factor. My point still stands. I would put this game at 2nd most dangerous, behind closing game at Nevada.

Every game is the most dangerous game when you are 22-0! Any team can be our kryptonite. I am not as concerned about who is healthy on other teams and/or playing well, as I am with us just continuing with our style of play and win at all costs attitude. If we can keep that edge, I like our chances against any team...in the nation.
