I've stayed out of the arguments over how much about his condition should be disclosed, but I will add this -- we pay a lot of money for SDSU basketball. Therefore, we deserve to know something about the product we're buying. Just how much is open for debate, there's a fine line there someplace. Where that is probably varies with different people, though a pulmonary embolism, if that's what it really is, doesn't exactly sound controversial.

I have commented several times on this thread and this will be my last. To me, the most important thing is whether Nathan wanted the detailed info released. If not, it should have been kept confidential, just sayin!

I was one of those who had stated on here what I had heard. I removed my post out of courtesy. But, it was a case of question asked and question answered. Wasn't told not repeat or say anything as in some other occasions over years. So the horse is out of the barn! He will not play again till you see him playing, not before. Moving on!

I don't care if he plays I'd love it if he could But come on. This isn't playing on a bum ankle! This is a serious health issue. I just want him to be okay

Not one media member asks Coach Dutcher if Nathan Mensah's respiratory condition is improving......off the record, I'm positive the media knows and won't say... On behalf of the paying public, there's no harm in asking - for the record. Hey, how's your rash doing? Care to share all your medical conditions with everyone on this board? .... A person's personal health condition is no one's business but his own. If Nathan wants to share that was Aztec Mesa, that is for him and him only to share. A little itchy since I shaved my nuts without shaving cream yesterday. I'm also getting fatter and the doc told me I need to eat better. My BP and cholesterol are normal for now though. That's about it.

You do not deserve to know a personal matter of a player that does not want it out there. They’ve made it clear he’s out for the time being. Nothing else is necessary

Last I checked Aztec Mesa is not regulated by Khmer Rouge....

Nathan has told people at SDSU that he does not want to talk about his condition Dutcher has said with the Medical Privacy Laws-that he will not discuss the medical issues other then it is respiratory issue . Would also think he would also like to have Nathan's trust in handling the medical situation . Would guess that a player would like to know that your coach has your back . As Dutcher has also said he will go by what the medical people tell Nathan and him how things should be handled and when Nathan wants to reveal the details Yes we Aztec fans love information about the guys we cheer for . But maybe we give Aztec players some time and space for MEDICAL issues . Not become TMZ or other type of magazine followers the think that we need to know everything and every minute . Again, the question was whether or not he was going to play again, not specific personal health details. It's not unreasonable for fans to ask, "Is Nathan going to be OK to play again at some point this season, and if so, when might that be?"

Hopefully we can change these posts from ethics questions to Nathan's future. Having to deal with DVT for over 30 years myself, I feel for him. However, the really important thing is if he gets more blood clots. If it is genetic (I had a DNA test) then he will use blood thinners for the rest of his life. If it reoccurs, then he may have to use blood-thinners (like me) for the rest of his life. He will have to watch his diet (vitamin K), get tested every month, and be careful of anything that can cause bleeding (internal or external).
Trips to the emergency room suck, but can happen after flights. I can never fall asleep, exercise in the isle-way every hour no matter what the flight attendant says and it seems to help. Any medical procedure means I have to give myself shots in the abdomen twice a day 3 days before and after.
I don't care if you feel sorry for me, but I want you to understand a little more about what he is facing. Some just have one episode, which we all hope is the case. This is not something that will be clear to Nathan and his doctors right away. I hope that all is well and he comes back next year. I believe that all of you feel the same way.

Calling Ziegler out for the story without knowing what he was told was okay to share is pretty speculative. I think people also need to really understand what, and who, is covered by HIPPA before spouting off about it.
