So much attention has been put on Mensah and rightly so but after watching Arop junkyard-dog it against New Mexico, it made me just as anxious for him to get back in full game shape. He can effectively guard every position which no one else on the team can. With him, KJ and Seiko all on the floor at the same time, that's some serious lock down defense. I will speculate if Nathan plays again this year, he will be coming off the bench. His presence will be valuable in dealing with matchups vs taller front court teams.

At full health ,there’s not a team in the country that we can’t match up with and there’s a lot of teams that won’t be able to match up with us. We can play small ball, we can play big, we’re deep. His health comes first, but if Nate comes back, this team has the making of a final four team. I think we can still make a run without him, especially if we shoot the ball like we have, but he takes this team to a whole other level.

Without Nathan, SDSU is a sweet sixteen team.
With Nathan, SDSU is a final four team.

That's not speculation anymore, Dutch mentioned that on the coach's show this week.

Dutcher in 2/15 UT - he is Not pleased with the defense in the last few games - is happy we have won the games but feels the defense and rebounding is not at the level it has been earlier in the season . Needs to get back to the same level

I was hoping that Nathan can come back 1-2 games before the start of the NCAA tournament to get himself back into game shape. I guess at this point it's the best that we can hope for.

Even if we can just use Nathan as a back up 5 (getting ~12 mins a game) to Yanni it would improve this team dramatically. We need insurance for Yanni being in foul trouble and/or outmatched by a longer, talented big

About a couple of weeks back Fisher said that it wouldn't take long for Mensah to get back in game shape: go to 12:00 min mark. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmjw_eRlPMUSo I'm thinking that in the two-week gap between the MWC tourney and NCAA game...he's going full contact...and will be mostly ready at the tip off...defense, rebounding and blocking shots...he doesn't need to score much....

Watching Iowa ( and Garza) beat Ohio State . Reminds me of our game against Iowa and how important Nathan is (when teamed with Yanni) when we play games with dominant centers.

Dutch at lunch today said Nate is working out today and there is a shot he could be back for NCAA tourney. And that we are way better on D with him.

We are going to be in the NCAA Tournament. We won the conference and now are being as greedy as we can be.
Most important is that Nathan will play basketball again. Hopefully we get him back for the NCAA Tournament which is 4 weeks away. We will need another big man definitely in a handful of games in the tournament. Nathan gives us a he depth and talent coming off the bench to give us a chance a deeper run.

On the Fox Sports San Diego TV show, Aztec Basketball with Brian Dutcher. Dutcher said they expect to have Nathan back for the NCAA tourney. That was the first time I have heard him use the word "Expect".

If he doesn't start, we don't beat Kansas or Baylor.

If he doesn't start, we don't beat Kansas or Baylor. I don't really see any reason for him to start. Dutch will bring him off the bench when the game dictates.
