The vast majority of the time we are way behind the coaches, however, on occasion... There is a kid playing for the Cal football team now that only had an offer from Hawaii and some FCS offers... I know the kid and his dad and had watched him play and knew that the offense he played in was hiding his skill level... I sent a note to Coach White and they started recruiting him, but the Cal coach changed and they made a last minute offer and got him... it can happen... Oh, absolutely... and this would almost be in the case of really under the radar kids. Interesting comments and thank you both for sharing. I always wonder how many kids are really out there under the radar and not being utilized to their full potential. I would assume not as many in years past but always great to see these kinds of stories by Boise

I would hope Dutcher and staff are on top of that and will have some top recruits at this game. Have Kawhi do a little off the book's recruiting.

King from Wisconsin would be a very good transfer for us.

Towns has two years of eligibility, right? If so he'd be my pick Towns is on the radar of NBA scouts already and has been for a bit, if he wasn't hurt he might be in the league by now. My guess is wherever he ends up will be a 1 year stop. But as with Tape, Towns will have bluebloods all over him Aren’t the Aztecs becoming a “blue blood”? It’s hard to turn down a starting position on a team with national attention in exchange for a role player on one of the traditional programs.

Blue Blood as in Duke, Kentucky, UNC, Kansas, Louisville, UVA ... Gonzaga doesn't even get top 10 recruits. But, they do get transfers.

Blue Blood as in Duke, Kentucky, UNC, Kansas, Louisville, UVA ... Gonzaga doesn't even get top 10 recruits. But, they do get transfers.  They signed the #5 recruit in the country, 3 of the top 60, and have the 7th ranked class nationally. Last year they had 3 top 100 recruits, and that excludes their international signing. Gonzaga has definitely reached blue blood status. They recruit at an elite level.

correct Zags have definitely jumped into the higher group of schools for recruiting - Now able to get top HS recruits , transfers and have a solid pipe line to players from other countries .
Is not easy to get to that level and stay there playing in a non P6 conference

do hope our coaches can use this year and the way the crowds have been to get a quality player for the 5/4 position for the 2020/21 season
Yanni's development and play this year down low should also be a positive factor -

Thinking about TRANSFERS as the answer, it's not. Yes you need the right transfers to help but look at Arizona this year:
-Jermal Baker 6'4 SG from Kentucky -Jordan Brown 6'11 C from Nevada -Max Hazzard 6'0 PG from UCI -Chase Jeter 6'10 C from Duke -Stone Gettings 6'9 PF from Cornell
All top transfers but yet they are 18-7 in the PAC and playing inconsistently and not dominating the PAC. Either these dudes are all overrated, Miller is a terrible coach or Dutch is a terrifc coach who can motivate good but no great guys to play beyond their limits. Dutch is about Chemistry, we chased most of these dudes and yet, were better without them. Think about it.

They are rolling right now, just blew out Oregon State. I think they have a very good shot at winning the regular season title as Colorado tends to fade toward the end of the year. Baker is getting valuable mins off the bench, and has been very good. Hazzard has been very efficient with limited playing time. dont think, Brown or Gettings are eligible yet, so i'd leave them out of the conversation for now.

We get it right ... and wrong ... and kinda right all the time. Josh Davis, Wetzell, Malachi Flynn, X Thames, Malcolm Thomas, Rahon, Aqueel Quin vs Teki Gill Caesar, James Johnson, Angelo Chol, Valentine Izundu, Devin Watson, etc Even high school recruits only hit about 50% of the time ... 2 years ago we got a 4 star 6’7 shooter (ed Chang) who was a bust ... hopefully this years 6’7 shooter (Che Evans) has more success. So do we want a transfer ... hell yeah. Just make sure it’s the right one.

Some people seem to be missing the point here. This team is not dependent on needing a transfer (or a group) to to be a great team they need a transfer to add onto the makings of another great team. This team is made up of a combination of recruits all classes and a couple multi year transfers and a grad transfer. This team is hopefully not a one and done thing they appear to have a stable base for the next few years. I just really hope Flynn and Mitchell come bake next year, this could really put SDSU up in the Big Boy league (hate to say it,almost blue-bloods).
This team is showing signs of great PROGRAM, coaches, coaching, training, recruiting, facilities, support staff, fan support, "The Show"..............
Go Aztecs!
