I think Azirona is all over him right now. I doubt SDSU has the pesos to keep him out of the P5. JMO
GO AZTECS!!

I do think the coaches have done a good job working to get this group of guys and to get them to buy into playing better defense . Getting the most out of each guy - but most important getting them to work on being a better team means sharing the basketball for some guys who are used to being The star on their previous team or even our team last year . Getting the guys to play good team basketball on both ends of the court is key for the current success I was also agreeing with the poster ,that while we are playing good is a great time for the coaches to be trying to recruit a guy that can play down low . has not always been easy to get those guys . Yanni has shown that those type of guys can be successful here at SDSU . Recruiting quality players is important and also developing them while they are here . Plus communicating with them to understand their role so all are trying to get the W . Team Basketball. Not as easy as it may seem . Do think the coaches are getting a lot out of the talent we have . Weren't you saying the exact same things last year & the year before, etc., etc., etc.? Our coaches ALWAYS recruit well, and you can see what an experienced team brings to the table when relatively healthy. This is a GREAT staff! We've recruited Nate & Yanni lately from a bigs perspective, plus young 4's like Johnson & AG, so there is ZERO reason to think we can't do so again moving forward. The issue with going after a grad transfer this year is we'd have 5 seniors graduating, with all (in theory) being KEY contributors. I'd rather bank on Johnson & Arop at the 4, and bring in a younger true transfer, even if he has to sit for a year. What's more important IMO is developing someone behind Nate. Not a must, but a nice to have in the pipeline scenario.

Tape would be explosive in an Aztec uniform. We need to try to get him on a visit.

Do hope that Nathan , Joel , Keshan, AG all improve this year . Hope combination can play the 4 position or maybe even help at the 5
As for bringing in some one do agree that we need some one to help or play the 5 or even the 4 position . Do think we need to get quality guy that could be a starter if needed -. Be it grad transfer , regular transfer , a JC guy or even HS guy. Most important need quality player that can contribute or red shirt .
Being a winning team this year is prime time to recruit and with Yanni having a good season shows that we do use a similar style player.

I agree....if this team makes a deep run, my guess is he'll opt for the pro game.....wherever that may be.... I don't see him leaving unless he has a good shot at the NBA. I do expect him to test the waters though and the current rules allow him to do so. I don't watch enough of the NBA to know what kind of shot he has with them.

'mc08066', hopefully scheduling better teams is really tough for us. We had a H & H series for a few years with Arizona, and we thought they really liked it, but haven't been able to continue it the last couple years. I think many Big Time schools are OK playing us on their home floor, but seem to be afraid to come to Viejas to face us. Usual excuses are it is too far to travel for our team, or we have an important tournament coming up on the days you have available for us. What the real problem is they don't want to show up, and possibly get beat and look bad for their Alumni. We still aren't considered a good, traditional, Big team type to play and the only way we get to play them is in a pre-season tournament usually. But, we do have to keep trying, and you never know what may happen.

Quad 1 losses do not hurt that much. Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s are good West coast options that we have schedule previously. Would like to revisit (UCLA, USC) (yeah I know) Arizona, ASU, Oregon, and Washington. Would also like to see MWC set up home and home with ACC (Why not). We can dream big can’t we, also why Not Auburn since we are both unbeaten. Great press for both teams if you can get it done right away. Now is the time where we seed the plants to get a great schedule moving forward.

Most important is to use this time while we are winning to be out there recruiting a quality guy to play the 5/4 position
Also does not hurt have the T- in Hawaii next year

would be great to have some recruits in on 2/1 What a great idea. Could they meet Kawhi or would that be some kind of stupid NCAA regulation we'd be breaking? I sure wouldn't want to get into the kind of trouble North Carolina, Kansas, Arizona and USC did from all their transgressions.

Yeah. Some of those schools almost got penalized for their transgressions.

Yeah. Some of those schools almost got penalized for their transgressions. It was touch and go there for a while but I'm sure the NCAA heads can sleep easier knowing there's a few less Dirty Assistant coaches with a job. Because we know for sure that those hypocritic a$$holes Miller, Self and Williams knew nothing about what was going on.

I've got to say that I am not concerned at all with recruiting. This year has made me a believer in Dutch's ability to pivot quickly and add the necessary pieces to be successful. We have a couple of things that will always work against us, MWC ("mid-major") chief among them. But, we also have a boatload of things in our favor. Great facilities, great weather, great co-eds, a very good academic curriculum, and a growing BB tradition. So, I think that if there are more Malachi and Yanni clones out there, Dutch and staff will find them and convince them to be part of a winning culture and a great city. I truly believe that there is no reason we cannot compete with Gonzaga for recruits. Winning is the answer to everything, and we are winning!

would be nice to have some recruits there for 2/1 game With the second signing day right around the corner, I'd be willing to bet there'll be some recruits of the football variety in attendance.
