Heicklen not making 1st team is a joke. Well, if you and "aztecfred" would have checked the MWC Stats first before making your comments you would see & understand why he only made HM. The punters from Col. St. & New Mexico had higher averages and higher net punting yards. CSU punter had 46.4 avg., New Mexico punter had 45.6 avg. Heicklen had a 45.4 avg. On net punting yards CSU punter had 44.5, New Mexico punter had 43.5, and Heicklen comes in third again with 42.6 yards. He was very good, but they were a little better.

Main thing is we were good, but not great. We lost on percentage points. See my post above on the punting stats.^

At elevation on bad teams that punted more. Wonder who had more inside the 10?

Do you think 2 yards on net and 1 yard on average punt trumps special team player of the week twice or the number of times his punts resulted in the ball being downed inside the 20, inside the 10, and inside the 5 yard line. Punting the ball long is one aspect of the punter. I would rather have a punter who can trap the other team deep.

A 60 yard punt that becomes a touchback with the ball on the 20 is not nearly as valuable as a 35 yard punt that dies on the 3 yard line. The number of punts left inside the 5, 10 15 and 20 should have been a much bigger factor. I've been watching football for a very long time and have never seen a punter put so many punts that deep.

CSU punter should be docked five yards per punt at his home stadium.

Looks like the 1st team should have been between Heicklen and Dyer at New Mexico. Not sure how Stonehouse made it to 1st team, unless they determine it purely off of average and net yards. Net yards does tell a big story, but doesn't tell the whole story. Stonehouse only had 13 punts land within the 20, whereas Heicklen had 27 and Dyer has 33. www.footballdb.com/college-football/stats/stats.html?yr=2019&conf=7&mode=U

All your comments are good, but remember I don't make the regulations on punts the MWC does. And, like all college conferences the main thing they count is total yards punting & average. If, you wish to use a different set of catagories to rate punters then you have to get in touch with the officials. There is nothing else you can do. I did note that Heicklen was a good punter, and he did help us tremendously with his drop dead punts inside the 20 or 10 yard line many times, but that is not what they count in punting stats.
