I just looked and SDSU is not ranked in the top 25, AP or Coaches Poll. Receiving votes but no number. Lots of 2 loss blue bloods hanging on like Seton Hall, Villanova, Oregon and Michigan St. and 1 loss puts Utah St to #25 in the AP, out of the Coaches Poll. There are still some notable no loss teams still not ranked such as Ok St, Arkansas (Musselhead U), West Virginia, Indiana and SMU.
It is really tough to hold my breakfast down after looking at Gary Parrot’s stupid smug mug shot btw.
RPI does rate SDSU at #17, but then again they also have 3-1 N. Arizona who took down 3 scrubs at #5. Go figure.

2018-2019 BPI #103 KenPom #125 Sagarin #87
2017-2018 BPI #53 KenPom #50 Sagarin #50
2016-2017 BPI #85 KenPom #78 Sagarin #76
Over the last three years we haven’t been very good with the hugest ranking from any of the three ranking metrics at #50, I don’t think we are in a position to gripe about not being ranked yet, SDSU needs to do more and I expect them to do so with another two wins this week.

Worst is, in coaches poll, Texas tech in front of sdsu. We wrecked two teams who both beat Texas tech....

This is the impact of a sad schedule. Undefeated means less Actually no, it’s the impact of preseason rankings. Our schedule is better than quite a few ranked teams

Just keep winning. Although nice, the rankings don't really mean anything at this point. When the coaches are out recruiting, then yes, but for right now, just win baby.

I think going from 2 points in the AP polls and 0 points in the coaches polls from the previous week to being ranked without having beaten a Top 25 team is unrealistic. I think we are in good position to get ranked next week (at least in the AP). Beating Utah the following week will definitely get us in to both.

combination of a few things
we have not beaten any team that has been ranked at all this year or projected to be a top 25 team- would have needed to beat a rated TT
did not have a pre season rating
MW is not considered a good conference and for the most part clutched in MM , and OOC....
Our OOC was seen as weak and there was not even any thought to play a higher rated team in a scrimmage so we could have leaked that out if we beat them
Think one year St Mary's used a bye week to schedule a good opponent later in the year if we are still in consideration for MM
so sure hope Dutcher uses that non ranking to motivate the guys this week and other games - do not lose any games that we are supposed to win - can not lose any OOC games and will need to perform really well in the MW
Bottom line go out and win as many games as we can - will have to see if Creighton, Iowa,BYU , Utah -( must beat them) or others do well to build the resume -

I wouldn't make too big a deal of this. A lot of good teams are ranked ahead of us, two losses or not. Just keep winning and we'll be fine.

This is the impact of a sad schedule. Undefeated means less We've got the third best resume in the country (ESPN BPI), and 4th strongest SOS of all undefeated teams (ESPN BPI). The schedule the rest of the way looks bleak because we are in the MWC, but it hasn't been a sad schedule. We're 3-0 on games against Top 60 teams (Bart Torvik, which more or less should be close to NET) [And remember, these were all away from home. 2, maybe 3 of these could all be Q1 wins. The only other teams 3-0 in such games are #4 Michigan and #17 FSU (who has already dropped a game).

I posted this elsewhere earlier, but it makes more sense here: I'll preface this by writing that I am a big Kenpom guy. I have subscribed to his site for years now, I love the data that it provides, and recognize that it is the most useful information on predicting who will win in the future, and getting an accurate measure of how good a team is.
That being written, when it comes to rankings- and more importantly seeding in the tournament- WINS NEED TO MATTER!!!
If you take two teams, and have them play the exact same 10 game schedule in which they play the same 5 teams twice. It is feasible for Team-A to go 10-0 and Team-B 5-5, yet team B have a far better Kenpom ranking (simply by winning big and losing close); yet Team-A should be ranked higher. Rankings need to take into account Wins and Losses; not just who is better but also who won. I feel as if many voters don't understand this about metrics.
As I wrote, I am a firm believer in the metrics and Pomeroy's work- but predictive metrics shouldn't outweigh accomplishments when ranking and seeding.

I'm ok with the ranking, keep winning, that's all that matters, everything else will fall in place.

Look, SDSU BB is up against the man (Power5). All they can do is win. The best they can do is stay undefeated and crush Utah when they have the opportunity! JMO

Michigan stole our thunder lol There's a lot to this! We quickly became old news. I really think if they didn't dominate and just lost, SDSU would be a topic of discussion since Texas Tech was part of the tourney.

The coaches and AP voters stated that they could not, in good conscience, rank the Aztecs until the deplorable offense on the football side of the house was addressed.
