All the metrics say Colorado State is a slot or two ahead of Utah at the moment. Utah is neutral and CSU is on the road. I’d really like to not stub our toe here. If we lose a game before January, this will be it. Sagarin Utah #98, CSU #122 KenPom Utah #125, CSU #122 BPI Utah #138, CSU #137 So yeah, pretty even teams and with CSU on the road a slightly tougher game...

Gasping for air is very real....no way around it. We are fortunate to have a very deep team so guys can get a breather to regain form. If it was that big a deal, the Broncos, Avalanche and Nuggets would be perpetual world champions and unbeatable at home. My guess -- without even bothering to look it up -- is that neither of those is remotely true for any of those teams. It's a factor that is conquerable, repeatedly -- and, therefore, overrated. And seeing as how the football team did just fine at the same elevation 8 weeks ago, I'm guessing the basketball team will not just lay down and say "We couldn't cuz the elevation,,," That may all be true but I remember that Kawhi had issues at the higher altitudes but he didn't let it bother him overall in the games. www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/aztecs/sdut-aint-no-mountain-high-enough-kawhi-leonard-2011jan31-story.html

I think it's a way bigger deal @ Wyoming, which is higher but also the travel to get there is brutal. I'm not overly concerned about the elevation when we go to Colorado St (though it of course has some small impact)

They are a typical Niko Medved team, they are gonna draw fouls. Be ready for them to get the James Harden treatment, especially at home.

Do we usually play conference games this early in the season? Seems a bit weird.

Do we usually play conference games this early in the season? Seems a bit weird. Nope, we typically don't... it's at least partly because they moved the tournament up a week to avoid conflict with a big convention or two. That pushed some regular season games a bit earlier.

I think there is a big red neck convention the same week as our typical MWC tournament. I guess everything got pushed up. Not sure if it is a bad thing or not but we are starting conference games earlier.

Yes the first 2 MW games were moved up for the earlier MW T .
Foolish not to realize that there is a difference for guys who are not used to playing at elevation. Was not easy for K. Leonard . don't think Yanni has played much, Nathan has numerous problems on the road . Joel , AG and Keshan doubt have much experience with it all guys that play the 5 or 4 . Their 5 is very experienced good player and knows how to take advantage
Is helpful that Matt is in better shape .
Malachi has played at Utah and Feagin has played at BYU . Trey P not much
We have played at BYU and they did make a run at us.
Will be interesting to see if we cut back on the press . Do guess we will sub often and use substitution to kind of give guys on the court a breather .so maybe guys come on the court and leave court at a leisure pace. Important on what guys the coach subs to find the better combinations not just 5 at a time .Need to make sure we have shooters and some size in there at all times
We have lost to teams we should have beaten on their Mountain court . Also the travel there and back can take something out of our guys .
So this is no gimme .
Can not afford to lose there

SDSU -4.5 vs colo st. I thought it would be higher. This is about the easiest bet you get all year. Expect the line to shoot up so buy low while you can.

Some of you people have never tried to run in high altitude and it shows.
When you're not used to it, you get winded faster. Go hard enough and you gasp for air
Try it
It will change your mind once you catch your breath

Also smoking weed in higher altitude does NOT make it easier to get really high
I tried that too.

It's a sure L. Think of all the CA taxpayer funds we can save. Thank god the football team didn't have the mindset of some on here when they traveled to the same exact spot two months back...

Also, Mal will be fine, he's played at altitude in the Pac, Ooootah is at 5000+'. The Huntsman Center is 4,700 ft. Univ. of Colo. is 5,300 ft. Plus, Wazzu is at 2,300 ft., so not as much of a problem going from there to 4,700 or 5,300, compared to SDSU, which sits at 812 ft. Big difference, FWIW. This site says 436 feet. I thought 812 seemed high. elevation.maplogs.com/poi/san_diego_state_university_campanile_dr_san_diego_ca_usa.272113.html

The only thing mentioned in all this is that thin air is a variable. May or may not come into play at all, but it’s something all players have to deal with and some will cope better than others.

Big game tonight. Tough place to play. Need to start conference strong and need to win both of these games by large margins if we want to get ranked this week.

4th year in a row we start off the MW season on the road. We lost the last three years. Thanks for all you do for us Craig Thompson, you worthless excuse for a Commissioner. Is he the moron who decides who plays who?
We miss a home game vs AF and an away game vs San Jose State- two gimme wins. Boise State doesn't have to play Utah State and New Mexico twice. And Utah State and New Mexico only play each other once.
So Boise State, Utah State and New Mexico all miss two difficult games. That is so effing imbalanced. Does ANYONE in this Conference give a sh*t about SDSU?
