Frustrating game, but we still control our own destiny. Winning the West and playing in the championship would still be great. Go Aztecs! There is no chance of that. Favored by 17 at home with much at stake and this team loses. This is why I tuned out early. I've followed the Aztecs since 1958 and this is horribly disheartening. This team plays it's best football on the road. People should show their dissatisfaction by staying home. Something has to change. I would not be at all surprised if the final three games were all loses. It isn't just that the football is bad, it's boring. This game just made one decision for me. While I’ve seen the Aztecs in person twice this season - at UCLA and SJSU - I was really trying to work out coming down for game this month before the end of the season. No interest now in going to a game with 7000 people to watch this frustrating, $#1+ offense - or be there as BYU takes over an Aztec home game. I’ll just add one more trip down to go to basketball games

One of the worst games in recent history. I can't believe how inept the offense has become. It's like they're stuck in reverse. Balls dropped, runners dropped, the defense did ok until they got toasted in the second half - which was the winning points for Nevada. It's hard to believe these coaches and players had two weeks to put together the nonsense they put out there tonight.

Last night was way beyond frustrating. It was heartbreaking. It rubbed our noses in the fact that, as bad as Reno is, we are no better. Even the defense got exposed.
I genuinely admire and respect Coach Long for all the stability and respect he has brought to a once-directionless program. But no one can deny that forward progress has now been stopped. We have leveled off at respectability and are no longer climbing toward anything better. Our annual MO, so perfectly exemplified by this season so far, is to let a hard-working, undersized, overachieving defense carry the load, while an offense made of spare parts and duct tape does the only thing Rocky seems to want it to do—run the clock. Scoring points, on the rare occasions it happens, is apparently just a bonus.
Incongruous as it sounds, Coach has all but said that offensive mediocrity is our best path to victory, that a more dynamic offense would leave us at .500, give or take. Guess I don’t know enough about Xs and Os to understand that, but I know Bryan Harsin wouldn’t agree.
I like Rocky Long as both man and coach way too much to suggest it’s time for his departure. But somehow this team needs an infusion of vision, ambition and optimism about what it is capable of achieving. At some point we have to figure out how to step it up and decisively take care of business in home games against the sorry likes of Reno, and Hawaii, and South Alabama, et. al.
With luck, we will soon move into the home stadium we’ve always dreamed of. The team will need to be worthy of it.

That new stadium will likely be full of empty seats within a few years of opening if a few pieces don't soon make some long overdue changes in this program.

Friday night against Fresno State does not bode well for attendance. After bringing in a nice sized crowd for Homecoming, the team loses it’s second game, both at home, scored very few points and then faces a night of San Diego CIF high school football playoffs. My group of 20 or so people has a majority of high school teachers and their school plays in the Open Division semis. Friday nights are meant for high school football. Thanks tv!!

Yeah, I'll be in Vista to cover the Panther game Friday night. I'll follow the Aztec game on my phone, but it's the playoffs, so that has to take priority.

We should play only road games. Forget a new stadium. We play better on the road. In fact, maybe we should move our home games too Boise.

What were rocky's excuses for this sorry a$$ effort? No excuses - just said it was due to bad coaching, and as HC that meant him. He took the blame rather than passing the blame off to the guy who was more responsible. Behind closed doors I think he'll let Coach Horton know that his job performance has been less than acceptable.

He did make the excuse that if he knew how to fix what was wrong with the offense, he'd do it, but he doesn't have any answers …
Maybe it's time to start looking for someone who does have some answers … instead of moving ahead with blind faith that somehow Rocky will experience a(nother) brain fart like the one he had with this year's offensive changes. Until he lowers the hammer on Horton and his House of Coaching Horrors, the results will likely be the same as they were last season. If they look as bad as they did last night against Fresneck St. next Friday, it'll be time for some serious soul searching among the Rocky faithful…
